Just back from the nightshift - and what a long shift that was...every minute felt like half and hour, still that's me free until 10 o'clock tonight. It's absolutely freezing in Scotland today...dull, grey, drizzle and freezing cold - about par for the course really
. Talking of par for the course OH is off to the Dunhill Cup (some golf thing) but it's not costing him a penny because he's one of the people marking the cards or something, so basically he gets to go for free. Better him than me, I would run a mile if anyone even hinted that I spend a whole day wandering around a golf course chasing a wee white ball in this weather - so, I will just sit here in front of a toasty fire, drinking my cup of tea and playing on MSE
.
Not much on the money saving front - I've got about £30 to last me until Thursday, when I get paid again. But I've got plenty of food in so, apart from some mince, there's not much I need, but I'd better hang on to it in case I need more petrol.
Zippy - your new job sounds good...it's always better when you have decent people to work with, isn't it? In my day job I'm virtually a lone worker, so I actually enjoy the night shift because, like you, I work with a pretty good crowd which makes it much easier!!
Strawberry - don't worry about tagging on here - the more the merrier I say! But you can follow lunars advice if you want your own thread - if not, you're welcome to tag on here whenever you want
. When you feel up to it let us know what the situation is, maybe we can help, if not we can certainly sympathise or at least give you a virtual shoulder to cry on. You don't have to worry about anyone judging or patronising you on this forum - everyone on this forum is here for a reason and the one thing we all have in common is debt, regardless of the amount. Admittedly, sometimes we do get a few trolls wandering in who seem to get their jollies by trying to upset people who are obviously at their lowest ebb, but don't worry about the trolls, the good folks on this site will soon chase them off! :T
Lunar - I've had a quick read through your diary and I'm so thrilled for you! I'll be counting down the days with you until the baby is born.
Well, it's now my bedtime. I'm planning to catch a few hours sleep, then take the puppies down the beach (waxed jacket and wellies necessary - thermal underwear optional) :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi everyone
Hope the weekend is going well for everyone,
yip lovely weather in scotland today, drove to dundee this morning and boy it was a bit hairy on the motorway!!!!
having a bad day today, feel really low and fed up. think it was being out shopping for wee man's new shoes and knowing I couldnt spend a penny. got 5.89 in bank and £20 in my purse, thank god for child benefit on monday. and Amy is in barcelona, another reason I am skint!!!, til weds so dont need to feed her too. then its the school hols and she is off to her dads so another cheap week, hopefully!!!!
once i get myself sorted and back home I will write a nice long mail and let you all know my situation too. It is great knowing I can relax and be open with you all and not put on a brave face.
Lunar - good luck and hope all goes well for you...exciting and happy times a head.
Midnight - thanks for letting me tag on, like it this way then can read lots of nice messages from everyone, a new set of friends (hopefully!)
Off to tesco now for some tea and try and chill and relax tonight
love to you all and chat soon0 -
Sandra (((hugs)) sorry you are still feeling down huni. I'm trying not to go near the shops too, just makes you feel worse doesn't it. Hope you have a nice relaxing evening, curled up on the sofa is the best place to be tonight I think. We were invited to a birthday party later, but I don't fancy going now.
Midnight hope you have had a nice day to yourself and you have a good shift tonight.
Lunar congratulations, not long left :T0 -
Whew, that's the nightshift job finished for the week and tomorrow is a public holiday here, so I've got a day off :j .
Yesterday was a NSD for me, mainly because I spent most of the day catching up on my sleep, so I was too tired to go anywhere near the shops
. But I will have to go to the supermarket shortly just to buy potatoes and a chicken to roast for tonights tea. DD is on a nightshift tonight, so we'll have a late tea to let her get as much sleep as possible. Then I plan to have a nice hot bath, get into my cosy PJ's and veg in front of the telly for a couple of hours.
DH has caught a caught a cold from all his wandering about freezing cold golf courses over the last couple of days and now he's wrapped up in a cozy blanket, downing Lemsip like it's going out of fashion  . Well, hell mend him, I say, he can't say he wasn't warned. At least if he's housebound he can't spend money
.
So the plan for tommorw is:
Look out stuff to put on ebay.
Do some batch cooking and freeze the stuff for next weeks teas.
Give the house a general clean and tidy.
Do some work in the garden.
Take the puppies for a long, long, walk to burn off some of their excess energy.;)
Do some training with the dogs.
Then the rest of the day is all mine :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing Sunday evening, and if it's a public holiday for you tomorrow - enjoy!

Hi everyone
I'm off work for a few days so enjoying the peace away from my moaning boss!!! And daughter is away with school till Weds!!! :j
Taking the next couple of days to sort out paperwork that needs done and work out who is going to get paid what. Really feel like i need to get a secong job but with a child at home and working during the week I'm not sure I have the time and energy to do much more. Like Midnight im looking at all the stuff in the house I can put on ebay in the hope that might help. and a friend has said she will look at helping me get back my bank charges which amounts to a couple of thousand, thanks to a huge overdraft being built up!!!!
Hope the start of the week is good for everyone and we are all still smiling!!:rotfl:
Take care
S xx0 -
Strawberry - sounds like you have a busy few days ahead of you - but no moaning boss - yay!! :j Hope you find loads of things to put on ebay.
Well, I've had a rather lazy day today. OH's cold has developed into the 'flu , and yesterday he was feeling completely miserable. I sent him packing to bed with hot lemon drinks and strict instructions to stay there until he felt better! Well, he's up and about today but still sitting around in a dressing gown - so he must be still be feeling rotten  . I took DD into town at lunchtime because she needed to buy a new winter coat. Then I took the dogs for a walk. Did a bit of batch cooking for the rest of the week. And totally forgot to buy tea bags on my travels today - so I've had to resort to the old fashioned way...tea leaves and a tea pot - and I must say the tea tastes so much better. I'm going to check out the prices and see if it's cheaper to use tea leaves compared to tea bags.
Didn't manage to do any work in the garden. I really want to try to create a proper vegetable patch but, because of the strange shape of our back garden and the patio etc., it might not be altogether possible, but I'll work on it
. I've still got tomatoes growing in the greenhouse. If I've got time I'll make some chutney. Just going to pop over to the OS board to see if I can find an easy recipe. Debt £171000 - Current Debt £168883Between Oct 08 and Apr 09 Pay off £12k = £2117/£12000£2 Savings Pot = £80 -
I would love to start a vegi patch, but will wait until we eventually buy a house as i dont really want to do it while we are renting. I think it will be good for my little boy to grow his vegies himself.
what breed of puppies do you have? sounds liike they have loads of energy.
I hope you are getting on ok with the paperwork strawbery i hate sorting through mine.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Lunar - I think it's great for children to know how veg is grown. My grandaughter who is 20 months old has eaten home grown veg since she was old enough to go on solids. She absolutely loves fruit and veg. She picks and eats carrots and peas from our garden, and she can recognise a strawberry plant at forty paces. Her mum says she would sooner eat fruit and veg than chocolate and sweets, which can't be bad.
As for the puppies, I've got two Border Collies who are both six months old and full of energy, mischief and utter lunacy!!! I've had Border Collies before so I'm well versed in their nutty ways. They do need a lot of excercise (working collies can easily run twenty five miles a day) and they can be hard work, but they're clever, intelligent and extremely loyal dogs, who repay your hard work tenfold. I'm hoping to get them into obedience training eventually - but at the moment I don't know who's training who! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Had a NSD today (mainly because I'm broke now until Thursday). Very busy at work today, but I did manage to have a quick look at the budget. I think I'm on track with it. So long as nothing unexpected crops up we should be okay. I'm hoping to shave at least £20 off my shopping bill this month. The dogs have been put on a cheaper food which they are loving and seem to be thriving on, so that should shave £20 off the dogs monthly bill. If I can find another £10 from somewhere I'll be able to chuck the spare £50 at the debt
.
Going to work out a menu planner for the rest of the month and see if I can stick rigidly to it.Debt £171000 - Current Debt £168883Between Oct 08 and Apr 09 Pay off £12k = £2117/£12000£2 Savings Pot = £80
