Jobs done today (don't go back to work till Monday):
most of my personal paperwork sorted and a big pile ready for shredding later.
started on my spreadsheet showing my CC debt - have 5 cards in use - 3 balances updated and payments reviewed - just need to add the final 2 - one of them I cannot get the information online (no idea why) so will need to wait for the statement - the other one need them to text me a security number so I can access that one - stupidly put DH's mobile number so need to wait for him to get home from work then can update that one. Will total the whole amount up and have divided a spreadsheet into quarters - my aim on the CC's is to pay off a third by this time next year. I have borrowed this idea off a neighbour. I think my problem is that I try to pay too much off, try to pay it all off then leave myself short and have to borrow again or I get very demotivated and then spend.
During my sort out over the holidays of paperwork found details of an old pension of DH's - which has been passed to another pension provider - have got some details - so when DH gets in from work he will call them to sort this one out and see what the details are - how much etc., and whether any can be drawn now.
Am still awaiting a cheque for just under £1k for some ppi - so will phone them later today or tomorrow as it has now been 2 months since they informed me of this overpayment.
Target for this month:
car share with DH as much as possible
watch food spending - should be able to keep it right down as freezer is fully stocked and I am scratch cooking again with ideas from the old style boards
DH and I are going to stay in every other weekend to avoid unnecessary journeys and extra spending that always creeps in - we had got into the habit of having breakfast and lunch out on a Saturday.
This year is our year of saving as much as we can to pay off a third of the CC debt and to fund things we do want to do without having to resort to the CC.
One last thing I want to do is to pay off our overdraft once and for all - and not by using the CC which is what I have done in the past. If spending is kept to a minimum then by next pay day we will be just under £2k overdrawn. However, once I get the PPI reclaim cheque that will halve that - I aim to have the OD to around £800 by the end of February. Thereafter aim to have it cleared by the end of the year.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi MrsP,
Happy New Year to you and your family.
Your plan sounds good, good luck with the debt busting in 2013

So far today:
sorted more paperwork out ready for shredding.
put all my pension stuff in order and found an old one which I am trying to find out if I am entitled to anything - to be honest don't think I am but its worth the phone call - just waiting for them to call back.
DH trying to sort out the pension he found - will have to call his previous employers (back int he 1970's) to find out. They are still going strong but there is no reply and we think they may have closed down for Christmas as it is a factory so he will try to sort that next week.
Phoned the PPI people and they say I should hear middle of next week so that is in hand.
dinner tonight is going to be jacket potatoes (after reading about MF and his jacket potatoes). However the spuds are quite small - but that is OK we will just have 2 instead of 1. I am defrosting some HM mince mixture (one portion) and a ready made (yes I know) cauliflower bake so will mix the two together for the jacket fillings.
Really need to do some hoovering and change bed but just can't be bothered - its the last day of my holidays today - so think I will just watch some daytime TV and then do the household chores tomorrow.:)Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
I have also finally sorted out my wardrobe and have 3 bin bags full of clothes for the charity shop

I am having my first NSD of the year - and it feels good

Have changed over some more of my email addresses - am changing iso so have done those.
got my Tesco email address changed and added the balance to my spreadsheet - only got to add the Barclaycard one when the statement comes in then I can update on here.
Got up late so we had a fry up breakfast which has also done us for lunch as well.
Packed lunches made for DH and DS - stew tonight and will have some of that of my packed lunch for tomorrow.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
My first day back at work and it wasn't too bad. When I spoke with my boss she mentioned a possible pay rise
I won't hold my breath but at least its positive.
Another NSD today - 2 in a row!
Dinner was HM cottage pie with reduced price cauliflower.
Things done:
packed lunches ready for tomorrow - leftover stew from Sunday plus a bananaDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -

Well done with the NSD MrsP.
Also fingers crossed for the payrise

Its been a good day today - unfortunately not an NSD as I bought DH's birthday present (its not till April - but it was too good a chance to miss).
I have received my ppi cheque which was for just over £1100 - so that is being paid in tomorrow and will come straight off the OD.
This also means that around £5K has come off my secured loan - so instead of the balance being £18K odd it is now just over £13k.
The repayments for this loan have come down by around £80 per month. I have immediately added this to my Egg CC payment.
Still waiting for my Barclaycard statement to arrive so I can update my spreadsheet and know exactly how much I owe on the CCs - suspect it is around £11k. I can then work out how much I need to pay off this year to meet my target of a minimum of a third. I have never been so anxious to received a CC statement before
Packed lunches sorted for tomorrow.
Hoping for an NSD tomorrow and no reason why I shouldn't have one.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Another NSD today.
We had scampi HM chips and beans for tea tonight - I have taken a spoonful of beans to go with a jacket potato for lunch tomorrow. I also grated the last bit of "Christmas" cheese so that will go in the potato as well.
I cannot believe that I have had 3 NSDs so far this year - it has been so long since I even had one! I am definitely a new "me" - nothing is being wasted food wise and I actually am trying to avoid buying anything.
I am visiting a colleague on Friday at a different office and she has suggested we have lunch - as luck would have it we have an "induction" that day at that venue for some new starters on one of our programmes - I have told her that we can join them for lunch
She can meet them and we can both have a free lunch. Well - you have to make the most of the very few perks that come your way in life don't you? Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -

Well done on the NSD's MrsP. Long may it continue.
Well done on also not wasting any food, it is a big goal for me this year as well. Also highlighting this point, the news this morning stated that the world population wastes 50% of all food, that's disgusting isn't it? Also 30% of all veg is not harvested because the supermarkets are picky and want perfect veg. Disgraceful
