I spoke to the boss and said I wasn't going to apply for the other job as I was happy where I was but I didn't want it to jeopardise me for any future opportunities within my present job. I was told she was delighted with that decision and yesterday she had had another discussion about it with two other senior members of staff. the upshot I am getting a £1K rise - I am absolutely delighted
Not sure when I will get it - suspect it will take a couple of months. What I am really pleased about is that I have been recognised. After tax we are talking around £60 per month but I don't care - I have been recognised and appreciated and that is worth more than anything.
Well done MrsP

Just weighed in at WW and I have lost 5 lbs. Can't describe how it feels - am now back on track. I have cut right back on carbohydrates - no bread and only a little potato and not every day.
Am attending a workshop tomorrow afternoon and there will be cream teas - I really must resist. In fact, I will resist!
Will have porridge for breakfast and some soup at lunchtime. Dinner tomorrow night is chicken and roast squash and green veggies.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Did some food shopping tonight. Have decided to do a cliff walk tomorrow to the next village - should take us about an hour or so each way. That is my downfall I really need to do some exercise.
Saturday breakfast will be toasted teacake in a cafe in Helston - it is my treat of the week - we will be there first thing around 9 ish and will go the building society to put money in for savings (car for DS - OMG!!! - he is 17 in December and we are going to get him an old banger - DS is saving his wages from his summer job in the local cafe towards the insurance which will be more than the car). I need to have 2 new tyres for the car so we will pop to the garage to book the car in on Monday afternoon. Thanks to the PPI I have more than enough to cover the tyres (for once). Also have a couple of other bits and pieces to do.
Will then make a packed lunch to take on our walk - not sure what will be in it yet - maybe some hard boiled eggs and chicken - doesn't sound that appetising but we are trying to avoid bread and the teacake will be the bread allowance for the day.
Dinner tomorrow night will be a prawn coconut curry from the Hairy Bikers new dieting book. They have got some lovely recipes in there. They also are cutting right back on the carbs.
Hopefully it will work for me and DH too. Am sol pleased I lost 5 lbs at WW and wonder if it is because I have cut the carbs right back?
Sunday we have been invited to a bbq so I think that will be a challenge weight-wise. I am driving so won't have the temptation of drink

The bbq was really nice but I ended up eating French bread, pate, meat, salad, rice, potatoes, Black Forest gateaux and chocolates
However, during the day I had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast and fruit salad with yoghurt for lunch so hopefully have limited the damage as much as I can.
Tomorrow morning will be the usual porridge - chicken salad for lunch already prepared and in fridge and chicken salad (again) for tea.
Did some gardening this morning - not a huge amount but at least I was moving around a bit!
Work tomorrow. Just watching some of the closing ceremony and then it will be bedtime.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Oh dear - DH and I have just been out for an Indian - not very good on the waistline or the wallet. And I'm being weighed tomorrow. My willpower is rubbish - I can only be good for so long

tomorrow back on the wagon...Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
i did a marathon drive up to see my Dad - left on Thursday afternoon and stayed overnight at a Travel Lodge - saw Dad Friday morning and got home Friday evening. Horrendous traffic on the M5 and A30 but luckily I was coming into Cornwall as everyone was leaving. Around a 6 hour drive to see Dad. So a fair bit of money spent in petrol and accommodation - but it was worth it. I feel much better now I have seen Dad. He just wants to get home now. In a fit of sentimentalism I asked if he wanted to stay with us but he said No as he wants to be near his own home. Once he can walk without his crutches he can go home. He is very motivated to do this. So - my family duty has now been done and it is a great weight off my mind.
Weather dreadful today - foggy and rainy. This afternoon we will go to the cinema to see The Bourne Legacy.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi MrsP,
Hope your Dad gets better soon.
I am hoping to go and see the bourne legacy next week. I went to see the new batman film earlier this week, it was very good.

Dad much better - now without the crutches and he can drive so a great improvement. I think he will be home in a few weeks.
Well - why did I have start of August for my D-Day with diet and money? I should have had 3rd September
I am off work now till beginning of September so will be eating, drinking and spending for England. Not going away anywhere but think staying at home is just as expensive! Also it is my birthday on Saturday.
The diet has already gone for a burton as has the spending. Will try and do some damage control and get back in the saddle in September

Totally understand MrsP.
Theses two weeks off my diet has gone for a burton and I have eaten sweets and cakes and drank.
Hopefully I will get back on track when I go back to work next week

Well we went £1,400 overdrawn in August (overdraft limit is £3000 but I don't want to go anywhere near that). I have just plucked up courage to look at our account - which I must now do on a weekly basis - and if I stick to my spending allowances then I have already paid off £100. I aim to pay off just over £500 and be £900 overdrawn which sounds a lot less scary to me. I hate being overdrawn.
DS has done very well in his exams 6 A* which include biology, chemistry, physics, geography and maths. He is starting his A levels at college tomorrow and is thinking of doing something in the science field. He says he wants to go to Uni. He is 17 in December and we are going to buy him a car - DH works with someone who has a car for sale for £600 so I think we will get that - it is 10 years old but a good runner. DS has a summer job which will end soon but has been saving for the insurance for the car which is around £1,000. Our reason for buying the car is two-fold - we live in a remote part of country and DH needs a car for when we can't car share to work and for when the weather is bad and it is risky for him to go on his motorbike. So we feel we are justified in buying this old banger - and hopefully it will do DS for a couple of years!
I have the money to buy the car ad we almost have enough for the insurance so we are all set. However, I also now have to think about the cost of driving lessons as well. It just doesn't get any easier regarding money.
The challenge for this month (and how I hope to pay something off the OD) is to eat out of the freezer - two freezers which are full of food. It might be that we eat some funny and interesting combinations and they won't always be that good for us diet-wise but needs must.
Tonight we had egg, chips and beans.
tomorrow we will have some bbq stuff I got on sale together with fresh sweetcorn in husks. If the weather is good then DH will bbq it - if not then will cook in/on the oven.Debt free and Keeping on Track0
