Just updated my signature as this is a fresh start - I won't dwell on what happened before but will go forwards from now. Have just put the CCs on the signature as this is what I am going to tackle first. Will update this amount each month to motivate me to keep going and not to lose track.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

            Hi MrsP,
Good luck with the new start.
Don't be too hard on yourself, we all take our eye off the ball and debts can run up again.
I know you can do it.
 Good luck

Went to the local farmers market today and sent £4.60 on some lovely, very unusual veg including marrow; gem squash; pattison !!! which is like a squash and a round courgette! Also got two different kinds of kale. DH has minced some lamb and tomorrow we plan to have stuffed marrow.
Because we had scampi and salad for tea last night (the fault of MF ) we will have the special fried rice for lunch today. ) we will have the special fried rice for lunch today.
Tonight is a bit of a treat - it is the annual beer festival at our local pub and really it would be very rude not to go! They also do a lovely bbq so we are treating ourselves to some bbq and beer - although I will either have cider or white wine. I won't have pudding so hopefully will "save" some calories with that
I am taking cash to the beer festival and no cards so spending will be limited.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Well I haven't really done anything productive today. Got up late and had brunch of grilled bacon, beans, mushrooms and poached eggs. Tea was stuffed marrow followed by strawberries and ice cream.
Work tomorrow so just need to sort out my clothes. Packed lunch ready in the fridge - it is stuffed marrow left over from tonight's tea. I will also have a "packed breakfast" as it is an early start - so will take a golden syrup Oatso simple with me and have this at work.
Have spent most of the day vegging out in front of the TV totally immersed in the olympics - especially the tennis this afternoon.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

 Hi MrsP,
Me Too, Great Win for Murray, hopefully that will give him belief now.

Feeling a bit down today. I love my job and am very happy there - its very flexible in that I can leave early and work from home if I have appointments or deliveries or anything. I can do the job standing on my head with my eyes closed and what stress there is surrounding it is fairly limited. I work in Cornwall and as such salaries are not that high. A job has come up for another education institution which is not based in Cornwal - but the job is based in Cornwall and is working alongside my present job. It is very similar - financial administration but the extra bit is customer facing. Now I am not very good at customer facing. I am happy to be back office. In my present role I am office manager - this new job is for administrator. The crux of the problem is that the job is advertised at a higher salary than mine - the minimum salary for this job is around £700 more than I am paid at the moment.
They are really 2 different jobs working for two different "projects" - both European funded which is why there are 2 jobs.
I have spoken to my boss who is not happy at how this job has been described - but there is nothing she can do. I have asked for a rise but in the current climate this is completely out of the question. She also said she would not stand in my way if I applied for it but in further discussion said I would be able to do 80% of the job but may not be suitable for the other 20% (customer facing) and I have to say I do agree with her
What do I do? Do I apply for this job? I am 50 and am very comfortable and happy to be stress free. Do I really want to start over again?
The only reason I would apply for this job would be for the extra money.
However, irrationally I do feel quite let down - the fact that there would be someone else who might well be sitting next to me (or certainly who would be in the same team) who is earning more than me without the title manager in her (or his) job title.
It really sounds so trite when I read it through. I don't have much confidence and if I go for the job and don't get it - know that it will fester and that I will feel resentful to the person who does get it.
My boss would be my current bosse's boss - if that makes any sense Debt free and Keeping on Track0 Debt free and Keeping on Track0

            Hi MrsP,
Its a tough one, but I know how you feel. That is one of the problems with my job. I know there are two people in my department that do the same job as me and one gets 8-10k more than me and the other gets 5k more than me. That is why I find it so hard to motivate myself in my job anymore.
If you don't like customer facing and would feel uncomfortably and it would make you unhappy, then I would not go for the job.
Yes it may be more money, but if you are miserable it may not be worth it.

Well - how different are things today! I spoke to the boss and said I wasn't going to apply for the other job as I was happy where I was but I didn't want it to jeopardise me for any future opportunities within my present job. I was told she was delighted with that decision and yesterday she had had another discussion about it with two other senior members of staff. the upshot I am getting a £1K rise - I am absolutely delighted Not sure when I will get it - suspect it will take a couple of months. What I am really pleased about is that I have been recognised. After tax we are talking around £60 per month but I don't care - I have been recognised and appreciated and that is worth more than anything.
