Have a good hol MrsP.Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:
TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D0 -
Saturday
Back from my hols. Had a lovely time. Will not weigh myself for a week now as I'm too scared.
Over-spent by at least £100 on hols, but it would have been more if I hadn't set a budget in first place.
Came back to bills - service for DH's motorbike in a couple of weeks (min. £250) and DH motorbike insurance £212. I am going to do the insurance on DD then I won't get this awful nasty surprise I get at this time every year.:D
Pay day yesterday so will get my spreadsheets and bills together and update tomorrow.
Doing my big monthly shop tomorrow at Lidls and hoping for a really low spend.
Off to do my unpacking now.:DDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -

Bank Holiday Monday
Feeling really positive today - let's hope I can keep this up till at least Christmas.
Debt-Busting
Checked all my accounts today:
Current account - will not be overdrawn this month:D
MBNA - £3493.14 - LOB
Mint - £4,150 - 0% Feb 2010
Egg - £0
I am going to have to use the Egg account for my dentist bills tomorrow - will be paying an instalment of £500. Will also have to use the Egg for DH bike service - minimum of £250 but I expect it to be more.
Plan is to PAD and pay off as much of the Egg as possible.
On the MBNA (which at the moment is the least of my worries) I am paying double the minimum.
On the Mint I am paying slightly above the minimum. Will have to start looking out in January for another 0% and try and BT it.
Plan is to not go overdrawn again.
Did my big monthly shop yesterday. Spent £136.14 in Lidls. Had to top-up in Tescos for £13.00 so not too bad. Still to get is £10 credit on my phone and £10 credit on DS phone.
Also have to buy some new school uniform bits for DS tomorrow, but these will come out of my Abbey current account (which I have the family allowance paid into). There will be enough in there to cover it. After that I will not touch that account as I promised DS he could go on ski-ing trip in February 2011 - and we will have to pay a deposit in Feb 2010. I will use that account now to save up for him.
DH bike insurance - have paid deposit today and set up DD for another 8 instalments - will cost us an extra £11 doing that but to be honest it means that I won't have a nasty surprise.
TV licence is due next month and again, that will now go onto DD.
Only things I don't have on DD now are the heating oil (and I need to buy some for winter). Will not put that on DD as the minimum payment they allow is £60 per month and we only use around £500 per year.
Have re-done my personal budget sheet with the new costings and its not looking too bad - am now ready to pull out all the stops and try and get as much paid off by Christmas as possible. Have decided that if I can take it in small chunks it will make it easier.
Today I have done a PAD on Mint of £50.01 to neaten up the balance and have done a PAD on Egg of £18.21 to clear the card altogether ready for the next onslaught.
Also need two new tyres for my car which will come to around £120 but have budgetted enough in my current account to take care of that.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Am now keeping a spending diary. From an idea by Money Fritter and Hypno I took out £20 on Saturday and will try and see how long it will last me. Spent so far: £4 on a cream tea (Naughty I know). So £16 left.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Spending Diary
Just spent 70p on milk, and I put the change into Olympic pig so I've now spent £5 and have £15 left to last me as long as possible.
Debt-busting
Debating whether or not to switch electricity supplier - what have I got to lose? Had a quick look and I could save up to £15 per month so its not to be sneezed at - that is the next debt-busting thing to do.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Tuesday
The dentist phoned first thing to cancel my appointment. I was all geared up to go as well. Looking on the bright side it means that I won't be putting £500 on the CC till two weeks Friday when I have my next appointment.
Took a few bits that won't sell on Ebay to the charity shop.
Spent £4.65 on breakfast out for DS and self.
Spent £2.00 on pasty for DS' lunch (a treat).
Got the school uniform bits and bobs using the money from the Abbey current account - took out £40 and spent £23 - so the balance will be put back in the account on Saturday morning.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi MrsP,
Glad you had a good holiday. I had a nice bank holiday weekend with my girlfriend and her daughter.
Anyway need to get back into gear now I am back home. The max I have made my £20 last in my challenge is 4 days. Have to try harder.

MF - I'm glad you had a good weekend with your g/f and her daughter. I do pop into your diary from time to time and am amazed at the amount of things you manage to get done. I start off with good intentions and then stop.!
I am back at work on Friday after just over two weeks off and in some ways it will be good to be back in a routine. I had so much planned to do during my days off this summer and I haven't really done much at all - apathy just seems to set in. I always seem to get more done when I am working full time - how weird is that?
today I have:
made a loaf in BM
tidied up my wardrobe (at last) - have been planning to do it for months now. Have put all my clothes onto hangers for easy access. Taken out the clothes I don't wear or those that are a little bit too tight and put them on one side so they don't clutter up the wardrobe.
been to charity shop to leave some bits and bobs
got rest of DS' uniform.
Things still to do before Friday:
finish off my assingment for course I am doing (probably half done)
sew name tags onto DS' uniform
look into switching electricity tariffDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi MrsP,
I know what you mean about getting more done when you are back at work. When I am off I just tend to lazy about, that is why I have to do lists, otherwise I dont do anything.
I have a breadmaker as well. It makes absolutely fantastic bread. When I first got it I just thought it was a bit of a gimic. But the bread tastes much better than in the shop and works out cheaper.
You seem to have gotten quite a bit done, so don't be too hard on yourself. As for clothes, I need to sort mine out too. I have been putting it off for ages. :rotfl:
Take care
