Not so down about the money side of things today (knew it wouldn't last long):D
Went to Lidls and spent £34. However, a lot of the stuff was for the holidays nice treats like biscuits, cartons of juice. Also got some good buys with meat ready for bbqing. Weather is fantastic again today - third day in a row.
Tonight we may go down to the local pub who are hosting a bear festival together with barbeque.:D Not sure if the bbq is just hot dogs and burgers or whether you can maybe get steaks and fish. Hopefully they might have some nice puddings as well:D (Must keep thinking how good I felt yesterday when I stepped on those scales and saw I had lost weight).
Tomorrow we are having lobster! I have never done it at home before. It was one I got from Lidls (which is now my most fave supermarket). It is in the fridge de-frosting. It says on package that it is already cooked - thank goodness. I found a recipe for thermodor sauce on the internet and am going to make that to go with it, together with new potatoes and salad.
This afternoon I am going to be out in the garden digging and planting out my veggies. I have got a plastic cold-frame thingy to go over the veggies at night. We think that it might be a rabbit or something like that that is eating the veggies. Have decided its not slugs. We back onto open ground at the back and there are literally hundreds of rabbits around or it could be stoats or something like that.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
I've just re-read through my post - no wonder I've got a weight problem its all about food.:eek::eek:Debt free and Keeping on Track0

LOL@MrsP.
I would say that its rabbits who are eating your tender young shoots - stoats are interested in greens they're more interested in rabbits:eek:
I am pleased that Lidl is now your favourite supermarket. They sell some good things. I love their cloudy lemonade as it doesnt contain sweeteners (it tastes like schweppes bitter lemon) only I don't buy much now as I am miffed that a 2ltr bottle costs 47p when it used to cost 35p:eek: I havent been shopping for ages - my freezer is almost bare. Tonight I am having lamb chops with some spuds and veggies (spuds and veggies are frozen). It is quite difficult to get to Lidl from my place which is why I like the car but as my eyesight is bad, I cannot drive there so have to rely on small trips to local shops. As I couldnt get to Tesco (I hate the small one in Northfield and prefer the slighly bigger but quieter one in Rubery) I ventured into Aldi and bought cheapo loo rolls which I hate:mad:
Hope you have a lovely holiday, there should be some lovely walks round and about too.
Good luck with the lobster:D0 -

Well the lobster was lovely (what there was of it), there was about a tablespoon each for the three of us!Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Lobsters are all shell as are most of those type of creatures - a tablespoon each is about enough if you padded it out with veg.0

Yes, we had it with new potatoes, peas and some home made bread and butter (the bread was home made not the butter):rolleyes:Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Monday
Well I've had a terrible morning (but I've bounced back now - part-way anyway). Dentist - I will need to pay just under £5,000 to get my teeth in order. I won't go into the whys and wherefores - suffice to say I have spent most of my life at the dentist and its only now that they think there is actually something they can do to make my teeth better. After a lot of crying by me I have decided to go ahead with the treatment - actually DH has insisted I do so. This has upset me even more as I realise now how much he does actually care for me - I suppose I always knew he did but this kind of underlines it all. Needless to say we just haven't got that amount hanging around. Luckily (I suppose), I have got a CC which I use for emergencies which has a limit of almost £8,000 and on which I don't owe anything so am going to use that. Meanwhile I am going to try and save as much as possible. I will be able to pay as and when and the whole treatment will probably take the best part of a year anyway.
I am going to try and save as much as possible and try to pay off as I go so I don't have to use the CC each time.
This afternoon I have become very positive in my new quest (as outlined in siggy). So far today I have listed 6 items on Ebay. Whatever I get for those will go straight to my tooth fund. Actually what I really need is the tooth fairy to leave me £5K:DDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -

I know where you are coming from with regards to teeth. I had a problem when I was 21 despite my going to the dentist regularly, I repeatedly asked my dentist if he could do something about some of my bottom teeth as they were overbiting my top teeth and he kept fobbing me off with "they'll sort themselves out in time" - well they didnt:mad: I have a very small mouth (although Strumps won't think so with the amount of noise that comes out of it:eek:) and I started having teeth growing where they shouldnt be going which prompted a visit to the general hospital, as soon as I walked in to see the maxillo-facial surgeon - he said your jawbone has worn away and if you don't do anything about your teeth now then you will not be able to open your mouth:eek: That wasn't what I wanted to hear - I opted to have the op, all of the dodgy teeth were removed (even the ones growing in the roof of my mouth:eek:) and I had to wear metal braces on my teeth for about 12 months. I still have problems with my jaw - I can dislocate it at will and when I visit the dentist have to jam my fist into the hinge to stop it from either seizing or dislocating (my dentist is patient and will stop and let me have a rest). I have no idea of the cost of my dental treatment but I am sure if I had paid privately then it would have cost thousands but I had it done on the NHS:j
Teeth are important so don't fret about having them sorted out or the cost.0 -
Thanks so much for that Horace - I haven't been able to get an NHS dentist for years and so have had to go privately for years. The dentist is throwing in some teeth whitening for free and has said that he is so confident that this work will stop the problem (and it is to do with my bite - and yes, I have an extremely small mouth too) that he is guaranteeing that I won't have to pay another penny on dental care for the next three years.Debt free and Keeping on Track0
