Hello All,
I have really enjoyed reading all the diaries and thought I would start one myself. I have been thinking about it for a few days now but today I feel bad as I have been doing really well this past month.
Had my LBM a few months ago - panicked and spent even more. Had second LBM about 6 weeks ago and got my act together. I have decided my main problem is eating out and eating in as well if I'm honest. The old style boards and the menu planning have really helped me out here. My new system is planning all my meals for the month then buying and cooking batch meals on the first Saturday of the month (after pay day). Four weeks ago I started doing this and I still have at least another 2 weeks meals ready. For the first time I budgetted for meals and feel I have done really well with that.
I then decided to join a couple of challenges on the boards. I joined the 100 day challenge to give up crisps and also the payment a day challenge. Was doing really well with both of these. The payment a day is fantastic and really focusses me. However, today I feel really bad as I succombed to temptation and bought crisps and chocolate totalling 90p. Both now eaten. Feel I have badly let myself down as my 100 day challenge was not to eat crisps and now I have failed miserably. Also cross at spending the 90p as that could have been a payment off one of my credit cards.
So... have decided to pick myself up and try not to be too hard on myself and start a diary. Maybe if I had posted before buying the crisps and choclate I wouldn't have done it.
Just a little bit about myself as I'm droning on a bit...
I work full time, have a DH who also works full time and a DS who is at secondary school. My main aim at the moment is to pay off the credit cards. I got into a mess with credit cards by using them to pay for nice holidays etc. I am able to pay off slightly more than the minimum payments but what I don't want to do is to use them any more and I want to get rid of the debt as I am sick now of paying lots of money out every month on credit cards:mad:
I'm also trying to lose a bit of weight and get fit as well:rotfl:
I'm going to use my diary to try and motivate myself 3 ways- pay of credit cards - lose weight - get fit.

Thanks Magni you're right it could have been worse. I don't have much willpower and I just don't want to fall back into my old ways.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

I don't have much will power either so i know what you mean. Normally I would have fallen off the wagon by now but this time I am trying extra hard as I started the challenge. I am staying away form the shops and enjoying the joys of cleaning my house instead:rotfl:
I think you have more will power than you think to have done the 8 days before you caved;)100 Day Pot £13

Well I feel pleased now - I have made a start on my diary and I have just done 30 mins on the Wii Fit:j
Tea tonight was home made pizza. I made the dough last night in the bm and left it in the fridge to cold rise during the day. Topping was some leftover sauce from chicken casserole we had on Sunday, plus some bits of ham that were beginning to turn up at the corners and some of my "square" chips as they are called. These are simply potatoes cut into cubes and then roasted in the oven with fry light. They were left over from Monday night so they went on top of the pizza as well. It was served with baked beans - looked terrible but tasted delicious:D Unfortunately we didn't have any cheese left so it was a cheeseless pizza.
Have taken a loaf out to defrost and made up some tuna mayonaise ready to make sandwiches for myself and DS tomorrow.
I'm off now to make a lovely cuppa and see what's going on on the forums.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi MrsP
Don't be too hard on yourself for spending 90p on crisps and chocolate as someone else said at least it wasnt more. I get chocolate cravings and to counteract them I drink a mug of hot chocolate instead because somehow its not as bad as chomping through a large bar.
I go through phases of batch cooking but these days its a case of cooking the stuff I have in the freezer and if I have run out of spuds and gravy is involved then I just use bread instead.
I shall enjoy reading your diary as much as you enjoy mine:D0 -
Just catching up with "stuff" during my lunch hour. I bought lunch in from home today, but have just been hijacked into buying a yoghurt. Not too bad I suppose. But really must get back on track with not spending little bits here and there.
Wasn't able to do my payment a day challenge today as money is very low in the bank account - not overdrawn for the first time in many months - £5 left so I'm right down to the knuckle. Anyway, good news its pay day on Friday!
Am working on my meals plans for next month. Keeping cottage pies as they are so easy to batch cook and I always add loads of veg and put lots of lovely mash on top. Brilliant just to defrost overnight and then you have a nice meal in one pot the next day. Am thinking of making corned beef hash (haven't had it since I was a kid) as I found a recipe on the old style boards that uses a slow cooker - which I have.
Am so pleased with the result of menu planning and batch cooking that will carry on doing it forever now!
Horace - I like the idea substituting hot chocolate drink instead of a bar - better for the waistline as well!
Feel pleased with myself because I have cancelled a credit card - it had nothing on it. Was one I had years ago for a balance transfer and then I consolidated so the balance was nil. I am never going down the consolidation route again........
Off to have a quick look around the boards and see whats going on then back to work.
More later:TDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Well done MrsP for cancelling your card and for batch cooking.
Your cottage pies made me feel hungry so I just nipped off to prepare my boiled beef and carrots. Basically a piece of brisket (the butcher offered me some extra fat but I didnt need any), a pan of water, some chopped carrots, onions, herbs and seasoning, cook on stove on low heat for a few hours, need to remind myself to keep checking the pan in case it boils dry.
Am in need of comfort food as I am feeling very flu ey today

Hi Mrs P - you're doing a great job so don't be too hard on yourself. None of us are perfect and if we were, how boring would that be???
