... we don't have to queue up to withdraw our cash, with online banking we can cause a run from the comfort of our own home.

It's different this time because I am older instead of late teens, early twenties so much more aware.
The internet is widespead so news can travel faster.
I can't work all the extra hours to cover any increases in general food/fuel prices like last time.
Oh and because the boom was much much larger this time....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
It's different this time because the power of the internet makes it harder for VI's to micro manage every aspect of the news.
THIS, is the best quote in the thread so far, I don't think you can underestimate the power the internet has had on people. Apart from FP from housepricecrash on Sky News now and again, the bears seem to get very little exposure in the main stream news
All this crap about shared equity, the market just needs "confidence again" and the shear propaganda that the government are spinning to convince a FTB to commit financial suicide by jumping into the falling market is an absolute disgrace.
Ministers like Blears etc.. are VI's in their purest form, they are obviously upto their neck in this HPI farce or have family/friends that are. He may have made mistakes but Merv at the BoE is the only one who is trying to stem the tide and even then he has to sit in front of a load of Labour MP's who try to tell him how to do his job,
Gordon did do one good thing, giving the BoE interest rate control, if hadn't done that then, you know that by now Gordon would have dropped rates to 2%, inflation would be at 15%, the pound would have been worth less than a dollar and the debt mountain would have been growing exponentially.0 -
Because They Won't Let It Happen.
Please stop it from happening Mr Brown. It's starting to get a bit scary now. Make the horrid headlines stop.
:rotfl:
Yes, I'm always amused when people say "they wont let xxx happen" as if governments have magic wands they can wave over markets to make them zoom upwards miraculously...... quite why the govt. doesnt use said wand all the time and therefore make us all rich beyond the dreams of avarice, I'm not so sure.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

My area has good schools/rail links/ whatever-you-want, and will not be affected.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

It's different this time because...

I've been very scared of whats happening, for the last few months. This one is going to be much, much worse than all of the others I have been through.
Reading the DFW board and the singingpig site, I can't believe the level of debt people have got themselves into and in such a short time. I'm so glad my children are going to go into this recession without debt -although my son has quite sensibly decided to leave the country and work in Oz for a while. His taxes will be going to Australia.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? Because we have long range cameras and our journalists can print what the housing minister really thinks (as oppose to what they tell us).RENTING?
