  • Recipes as mentioned. Hope someone likes them!

    Curried bean spread
    • bunch of spring onions chopped
    • 15oz can of chick peas
    • 15 oz can of flageolet beans
    • 4 oz of low fat cottage cheese
    • 3 oz of low fat fromage frais
    • 1 tsp english mustard (ready made)
    • grated rind of half a lemon
    • splash of lemon juice
    • curry powder to taste
    • small pinch of chilli powder to taste
    • salt and pepper
Put in the blender and blend til almost smooth depending on how you like your spreads.

    Vegetable spread
    • One medium onion, chopped
    • 1 stick of celery chopped
    • 2 - 3 oz of cucumber. Remove skin and chop
    • 3 oz green pepper deseeded and chopped
    • couple of gherkins chopped (leave them out if you don't like them but they do give a nice tang to the flavour without tasting too much like gherkin)
    • 3 oz cottage cheese (press this through a sieve first)
    • 5 oz chopped fresh tomatoes
      salt to taste
    • I sometimes add a slug of tabasco if I want some fire but it's nice without.
If you like a coarse spread, just mix everything together, if you like it smoother then blend. Chill well before eating.

    Cucumber and cheese spread
    • 8oz of cottage cheese
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • dash of tabasco
    • half a small onion, grated or two or three spring onions finely chopped
    • 6oz cucumber, peeled and finely chopped
Mix together and cover and chill in the fridge for about an hour. This makes a soft spread.

    hugs

seakay i think we get 15 slices per loaf, maybe they are a little skinny tho! ;):oWhat flour are you using? We had fairly crumbly loaves when we used plain flour in place of bread flour...

Thats ISOM all in a dither for the day now - her favourite fella and he's only months old:D

I think he's too old for you ISOM;):D

But then...yer knows me and my way of thinking by now....as I was gazing at him contemplating just how old I think he is ......as in I suspect he's what they call "an old soul" - and that doesnt surprise me in the slightest...:D

..just recalling this very "old" person I met recently....he was a young boy...I think about 2...but he was VERY old...that was obvious. Delightful little boy he was...I ended up spending a couple of hours in his company inadvertently and there wasnt a moan/cry/anything out of him during all that time (he was just busy smiling and exploring the world round him and socialising with everyone around) and I'm not a childloving person as we know....

    Love the photie!

I do use bread flour but I suppose it could be that I have the wrong sort or bread knife (?!) or, more likely, that it is to do with my inability to make a straight line!

    sundried tomato houmous

250g dry weight chick peas, soaked boiled and simmered
1 jar asda sun dried tomatoes- use the lovely oil they come in to blitz with the chick peas...
    2 cloves garlic
    3 tbspns lemon juice
    salt and pepper
sunflower/vegetable/olive oil approx 100ml more depending on the end consistency you want!

Hi Guys...I've high-lighted the dry weight bit, cuz I was having a mooch around mysupermarket.co for prices earlier in the week. I go by the per-100g/cl price for the bits I need & was shocked that a great deal of the tinned pulses are a fair bit cheaper
& was just wondering how the costs would differ? I think I've said before that we are not close to a MrA who appear to have the best deals, but MrS has a fairly decent range.
As others have said, I've kinda missed you all :o but I'm just thankful Fergus has arrived safe & well. My three bubbs are more than enough for me thank you & I'm in no hurry to be a gran just yet, but that doesn't stop me hankering after a cuddle & coo when I see a gorgeous hunk of Baby :p My very best wishes travel through the ether to the three of you, for a Lifetime of Good Health & Every Happiness in all you do.x

Thanks for picture Weezl...he is beautiful...maybe could do with another grandson to even up the count....see no signs that any of the family are likely or willing to oblige!

    Thanks for spread recipes MSD

Big Mumma....when you compare the price of dried beans etc you will have to at least soak them first, as weight is much different when soaked.

Love having this thread back to read every day
