Hi Weezl,
Have only read this thread so far....first post.
I am loving the thread and have tried lots of the recipes....especially like the sardine pate and the lentil pate.
I am posting now as I am having trouble with you recipe for frozen yogurt and I'm wondering if you can help. It tastes lovely but when I freeze it it just becomes full of ice crystals which make it a bit inedible....should I be doing something else? I have tried giving it a few extra whisks as it freezes but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. Also it freezes absolutely solid so can't be served unless I partially defrost it.
Any suggestions Weezl or anyone else?
Many thanks for a fab thread :T

hello pepys and welcome new people! Lots of recipes on here that are cheap so have a bas - things I never would have thought of like chicken liver pate etc - yummy and cheap but alas not good for thighs!!Also making bread etc (which I havent done in a while but will get back into) saves alot as you can make it so much cheaper - weezl did the pricings somewhere - I think her no knead loaf was 14p? Is that right Mrs?
A special hello to the Weezles...have been sympathising with you after a mere week of decorating...just tidied up and its bliss to have no dust...hugs coming your way cos youve been at it for months (enter Fergus stage right!!)...Re the book and making comments about the beauty of pregnant bodies - I agree and while can understand the panic with body changing can only say that that there Weezl body is growing a baby and it needs to (and others of course) streatch a bit for Fergus to fit and what a beautiful thing to be able to do Mrs!; plus mr AM will I am sure think you stunningly gorgeous even when you dont feel it...I have some bio oil if that will help - apparently very good for reducing the chance of streatch marks "etc"...I think pregnant bodies are amazing myself...a real gift and wonderful to see the changes as it means a wee Fergie is growing as he should!! Can understand ribs being kicked most uncomfortable though! If its all day rather than all night maybe he will be a good sleeper at least?!!
Going to make mushroom rissoto for my supper and will post if its scrummy. Have done no cooking for weeks and must get bak into it as need a frugal month as bathroom cost triple what I thought and have also spent quite a bit on crafty stuff - partly making presents but will be honest and admit that the bead shop was sooooo gorgeous that I may have got a teensy weensy bit carried away - although did put some back....!! Anyway, off to make some pressies - will post a piccie when done!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

Can you borrow an ice cream maker from someone? The churning really makes a difference...otherwise just do more mixes as its freezing maybe?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Ah - right - 5' x 5' I guess you mean then. Thought it looked a bit bigger than mine - as was trying to figure out what proportion of those veg. I could plant in mine - so I guess the answer to that one is 80% of what you said you did. Right - I'll get me calculator out then....:D .
You said you bought the veg. in as mini-plants - guess you did that then from a local garden centre? (hmmm....another way in which your area is cheaper than mine then...sulk.....as I doubt I'd get that many plants for £10).0 -
Hi there everyone - hope you've all got the thermals ready!!!! BRRRR
Anyway to the point - Took advantage of M&S feed 2 for £10 - but hello!!! I feed 4 for the £10 and some over - picking choices carefully.
Got the largest sized chicken yesterday - not everyone here likes the brown meat but as my husband may not have a job after March 2009 and myself from December 19th this year - family has been told - all the chicken is being used.
Chicken Dinner To-morrow (4)
Sandwiches for DS school lunch (3 days)
So - does anyone here have a 'Chicken Burger' recipe?
Also - everytime I ' boil up the bones' - bit like Mr Lecter? the chicken soup never turns out right - HELP
All suggestions gratefully received.
Annie

well just made the risotto and will post a piccie when I find the energy - ie not tonight! Baially looked at books and then did my own thang!! Basically 150g of rice (75g x 2 meals), chopped 1/2 onion (other half went in the carrot, curry and parsnip soup) and a punnett of mushrooms. Cooked those in some oil until nice soft and the added about 1/2 pint stock and brought to boil, added rice and put a lid on (actually a cake tin) and then left to its own devices for 20 mins...liquid all cooked and yummy so added some parmesan cheese, garlic bread and voila...yummy supper and cheap but have no idea how cheap!! Weel any idea on prices? Asda 79pish mushrooms, parmesan cheapie (out of date - you proud of me!) from fridge...washed down with a yummy red from asdas 3 for 10...now cannot leave asda without spending 50 lol but do get more for me money!!
Re ice cream makerthink long and hard as you need a fair bit of space if you get one where you freeze the bowl and I rarely use mine as never space in the freezer and, unlike weezl, I only have one!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Good Evening All
Been catching up and noted Mrs Micawber's recipe for Self Saucing Lemon Pudding - took me back. This was the first dessert I made at secondary school about 29 years ago!!!!
Have just gone and checked cupboard .......MMMMMMMMM Sunday Dessert I think.
Can't remember who but someone on here has a liking for old cookery books - I still have a cookery book that my mum was given when she got married in 1958. This was the book from which she made most of our family meals from - it even gives you various household hints. I used it for A level Home Economics. My Dad said that you could give my Mum the equivalent to a Fiver a week and she would still have change
Only problem is when I want to use it I have to get another book to convert the oven temps as this one only does Farenheit and Gas.
Must look out old war-time recipes which I have collected
Yes you guessed it - I can be a bit of a clutter bug - but I love my books:rotfl: :rotfl:
Better go - wine beckons
PS: any ideas where I can find a decent chicken burger recipe? Sorry to repeat myself. I can do the old meatballs thing - bit of this, bit of that but have never made chicken burgers
Have a good night
