get over it. it happens everywhere.

if anything u hopefully will have learnt from your 'mistakes' in the interview, ready for the next.
  • All I can say is that in alot of jobs it all comes down to who you know and not what you know. This is great when it works in your favour, but really annoying when it works in someone elses favour.
Its not "Fair" but then again life is not fair. You have a right to be peeved.

Good Luck for next time. Provided the managers best mate/sister/cousin isn't applying you could be lucky

In fact, sometimes the internal candidate is at a disadvantage! They can swagger in, thinking they know everyone interviewing them, thinking they have all the answers, not having prepared, and then they get a serious shock!

If they were asking about the other experience on your application form, they may have been trying to get a feel for what kind of person the applicants were, rather than which one had the most retail experience. That may have favoured the person who got the job, another time it may favour you. Who knows? Ask for the feedback, but even if you're not happy with it try to leave things so that if you apply to this company again they'll want to interview you again. You could even stress that you'd be interested in future vacancies and see if they 'bite'.

You might also want to make sure that future applications make a lot more of the experience you have that's relevant to the job, and skim over anything less relevant, even it's more recent, if that makes sense. When i was last job-hunting, each application could look quite different!

  • Hi Stressers
I agree that viktory was unnecessarily rude - and I don't know why peeps bother to be vile to each other on here.
Good luck in the future and remember that by law all candidates are asked the same qs and are usually scored on a points system in respect of their answers. At the end the points are added up and the one with the most gets the prize! I also agree that this does potentially favour the internal candidate because they know more what the co. is looking for, but your time will come!
