Hi there
I haven't been on lately as the last time i tried to update i had typed a full story and the laptop crashed mid post. I haven't been able to get the laptop up and running so it is now in the computer shop to see if it can be fixed.... approx cost £55  I have the desktop pc but i've been so used to using the laptop that it feels really weird being on the desktop pc....
Im going to use the time of not having the laptop to enjoy relaxing a bit and trying not to worry about money stuff! Im really going to struggle this month so i'll check all my account tonight and then won't need to look at them again until i get paid from my 2nd job on Friday
Will post again once the laptops up and running.... hopefully it will be able to be fixed and it wont cost too much

Hi Buddiebabe - sorry to hear about your computer problems - computers are a real nightmare aren't they - can't live with them and can't live without them!!!
My debt busting and dieting have taken a bit of a back seat this week and also next week when I'm on my hols. Come beginning of September I'm going to get my act together and do something about both of them.!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -

Well at least i have now updated Septembers figures i can now get on with a wee explanation of whats been happening over the last few weeks. Things haven't been that good over the last few weeks.
My mum asked me if she could borrow some money and it broke my heart to say no to her but i knew i couldn't spare anything if i wanted to meet all my monthly payments for September. Anyway everything all came to a head and my mum gave me details of all her accounts and debts and there wasn't anything i could suggest she do. She has now spoken to my dad and they are going to have to sell their house.
So they have been clearing out stuff all week and it is going on the market next week. Im so gutted for them i just feel like all they have worked for is lost and they are going to be left with nothing after they have sold it. They are going to have to rent somewhere now they seem ok with it but it breaks my heart to think that after everything they wont have anything.
Now my mum and dad both seem ok and my mum is even quite excited about it and they will be able to afford to rent somewhere really nice and have money left each month that they can spend on themselves or even go on holiday.... they've not been away since 2002 and they don't really do anything or go anywhere. The other plus point is that they wont have any debts at all once the house is sold.
It has given me quite a fright that this could happen to me.... now i know im not going to let it but it still scares me. I went to see the works financial advisor and he suggested a trust deed for me but am really unsure that this would work for me. Now am not sure if this would be the best option for me but i might go along to the appointment to see what they say but my biggest fear is that i could loose the house and the car so i will wait and see what they say. Im just about coping at the moment so i think i should just keep plodding along.
The advisor did also give me the option of changing my mortgage to interest only for a period which would free up £100 a month.... now am not sure how this would work so may phone and ask northern rock if i could change this over for a year or so and how this would affect things in the long run.
Hope this helps explain why i've not been around much lately

They don't to sell their house to meet unsecured debts.
They have options like a DMP for example. Why don't you get a SOA from them and open up a new thread on here?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
Well now i have updated all the bad stuff i need to set up a plan of action!!
Good things:
- I have managed to meet my target of getting my debt under £30,000.00
- I managed to pay off £703.49 last month
- I have finally listed some new stuff on ebay
- Realised i need to get this house cleared of all the junk and get some money from the stuff in here!!!
Bad things:
- I have managed to spend £123.97 on my Tesco credit card since 01.09.09
- the house is a complete mess as i've been too pre occupied with other things
- haven't been watching my spending this month
- have put on all the weight i have lost
There is no point dwelling on things that have happened i need to get on with things. Im off work today and my boyfriend is at work so i need to make the most of things. So far today i have done the following:
1. Put on a washing
2. Put on the tumble drier to dry the washing from last night (it's torrential rain here)
3. Updated my September totals and signature
4. Got up before 12!!!
I want to get the following done today:
1. Go to Morrisons and get some shopping... including healthy options
2. Batch cook 2 trays of lasagne as i have 4 jars of sauce that i need to use before the 08.09.09 so i figure they will be ok if i make them and freeze them.... my boyfriend loves lasagne so they will probably all be gone before the 8th!!
3. Make soup
4. Make homemade bread
5. Clean the bathroom
6. Put a box full of stuff that i have photographed last week on ebay
7. Iron 20 items
8. Make some homemade hobnobs
9. Hoover the house
10. Try and tidy up the general living areas from all the stuff lying about
That will do for now am going to go get dressed and then make up a shopping list so i can go get the shopping and then start cooking!

Thanks ZTD but they have a large secured debt on their house and they would inevitably have to sell the house in 3 years time and by then they wouldn't even have enought to pay off their unsecured debts and be in a worse position.
The change in my mum since they have made the decision to sell the house is amazing she seems so much more relaxed and its like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders.
It just seems to be me that seems to be down about things

Hi Buddibabe,
First of all congratulations on getting your monthly payments target met and on getting your debt below £30K - that is fantastic news and you have really worked hard to do that.
Secondly, really sorry to hear about your parents. Only they know what is right for them and if selling their house, getting rid of all their debt and then renting is that that is for them to do so. Its very difficult but all you can do is listen to what the are saying - it is almost impossible to offer up advice for parents. Turning the situation around you say "it has given you a fright" and you "don't want the same to happen to you" - maybe this is the call you need to keep going on. You have done so well managing your debt so far but I know from what you have said you have had a slip up now and then (God - haven't we all?). You seem really organised today and well up for a renewed challenge.
Have you put your debts in to the snowball caclculator? I have to say that I haven't dared to do that! I'm sure that my date is so far in the future that it would demoralise me completely.
I have opened up several small savings accounts - all online so I can transfer amounts onlne from my current account for the items that I don't now have on DD - such as heating oil, even holidays etc. I am taking a leaf out of your book and trying to foresee things such as house repairs, MOT etc. All these things I never bothered about till the bill came in and then of course would have to use the CC. As you know I have to use my CC for an extra couple of thousand over the next couple of months for my teeth and I am so annoyed about that, but at the same time determined that I now must get this under control.
Good luck with your list of items today - so far I have hoovered and tidied up a bit - still to do quite a bit more housework and some gardening (its lovely here today).Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hey MrsP i know what you are saying sometimes i just feel so down about their situation but then i see my mum and see how much just making this decision has taken the pressure off and im happy for her i just get really sentimental about things
Im in the process of making out my shopping list and trying to figure out what i can make for eating this week without having a really large food bill this week. I want to start making more use of my slow cooker so need to come up with some things i can put on before i go to work but nothing thats going to go to waste.
I need to get more organised!
Putting money away for all the things that usually get forgotten about until the bill for them comes in has saved me a fortune in interest charges! Its one of the best things i have done.
I haven't put my debts in the snowball calculator again yet as i really don't want to be depressed by the date. Im going to continue to set myself targets that i realistically think i can meet rather than feeling like this is going to be never ending!
