You don't sound well at all, KP - hope you manage to stave off anything worse. Lava cake sounds *verrrry* interesting - what is it, can you describe it? I've got oat biscuits cooking at the mo - the base of a Christmas thingy of marzipan, mincemeat and a glace cherry.

  • Got it off the grocery challange thread its dark choc sponge cakes that should melt in the middle when opened abit like the M&S ads. It doesnt appear on the latest thread but I can post the receipe if you like.

Not feeling 100% but could be worse just feel bad that the kids might be coming down with it. Its pretty much localised to the throat with the odd sniffle so Im not bed ridden just dont feel like doing much.

Happy New Year KP! I really hope the lurgy doesn't get worse.

If you *could* post the recipe, I'd be grateful - I love, absolutely love things that melt in the middle, but there's no way I can afford to buy the stuff in the shops. Yum in anticipation :)

  • CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKES

    170g butter
    170g 70% cocoa chocolate
    3 eggs
    160g granulated sugar
    40g cornflour
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/2 tsp salt

    1. Melt chocolate and butter
    2. In a large bowl fold together the eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla.
    3. Add cornflour to egg mix and stir well.
    4. Slowly pour chocolate mix into egg mix and stir thoroughly.
    5. Cover the batter and leave in fridge for 2 hours or better still over night.

    6. Pre heat oven to 175 c gas 4
    7. Scoop mixture into 6 muffin tin size cups
    8. Cant be too exact on this bit as it depends on the size of tin used - bake for around 10 - 20 mins. The centre should be soft to the touch.

When you cut into them the centre should be all gooey and melt out a bit.

  • 1st Jan report

Went to take kids out becuase they expecially DS are acting like caged animals. Need to burn off some energy but not climbing on our furniture etc! Forgot thats its New Year and everything shut so posponed till tomorrow.

Washing machine has something stuck in it so wont spin. Emptied it and took back off but really need engineer to look at it so waiting till tomorrow for a call out and a lovely £50-100 bill Im guessing

DD1 not happy and spent 45 mins on and off arguing why should she tidy her room to be allowed to sleep over her friends when her friend was asked to do the same by her parants with no quibble  . Managed to ignore her in the end and banned the sleepover no matter how darn tidy the room is.

Cooked lava cakes mmmmm and ate one with icecream mmmmm. Needed to destress when washing machine packed in. By the way the uncooked mixture is actually as nice if not better than the finished goods :).

Nowt else done although I did clean under the washing machine so one small spot of teh kitchen floor is clean!

Time for dinner so hopefully the defrosted chicken is still ok.

Hope everyone having fun although poor old Midlands mum has had a worse start to the year the boiler has packed in so hoping thats a cheaper fix than she is expecting.

    Happy New Year KP!
Sorry to hear about the washing machine. Sometimes it feels like 2 steps forward and 3 back.
We're planning on a drive out tomorrow too. Feel like I need some fresh air and to blow the cobwebs away.
Hope you feel better soon hun.

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

  • The WM motor has had it £180 to fix :(. Could just buy a new machine but not likely to get as good a machine for the price and isnt that old just heavily used.

OH gone to pick up his pills and asked him to pick up new 2009 wall planner so I can get that done today. Spends today £130 deposit for machine and £10 to OH for lighbuilbs and planner.

Might have to put the play area on hold for a bit and see if I can get the kids to accept a cheaper free option of a walk.

Applied for a 0% for 16 month cc last night as though it might be better than the 5.8% LOB. Again no conclusive acceptance straight away so hoping at least one accept me.

    TO DO
    [STRIKE]
Check tesco cc balance and ring to change total dd payment to the minimum.
Check bank balance and rework monthly budget and one specfic for Jan including how much to take out and put in envelopes for specific budgets.
    [/STRIKE]
Either target bedroom or kitchen for a declutter and clean

but first wallow on here for a bit
