    Hi Mintymoneysaver,

One thing that you might want to do once you have paid off this debt is to continue to put £100 or so aside every month from your 'spare money' into a savings account. You may even be able to convince yourself that this is your way of avoiding having a 0% card for the next holiday.

    Good luck with the journey!

  • Urg,
that's been my plan for the last few years, it's just never seemed to happen! Every month I keep thinking this month I'll be able to save something but then something else always comes up! e.g washing machine, new bathroom door( had to break the last one down!) school trips....
    One day I'll be rich.......
  • So back to work today..not too bad as there were no children in! ( Yes, I'm a primary teacher for my sins!) Was talking to DH today ( he's in finance!) and apparently quite a few of us stand to get an extra £60-£70 in our pay packets at the end of September to make up for the 10% tax rebate or something! Anyway every little helps so hopefully will be able to put some of that to help pay this bill off. It's like I said though, there always needs to be something doing, some of next month's money has already got to go to replacing the bathroom door which had to be kicked in due to an unfortunate incident with the lock and me! It's actually been broken for ages now but we realised we had to do something when a guest got stuck in there too!
Hope everyone else is doing okay and feeling positive...
  • Gggrrrr.... just had a look at my balance online and realised there was another £45 to be added to the original amount as the train tickets hadn't come out of the first statement. On a positive note though, my money has gone in and I no longer have an overdraft, I'm £164 in credit on the joint account. I actually need to pay out £171 out of this, but it's nice to think i'm in credit for a little while!!!!!!!! Off to update my sig!
  • Day off today ( only work 3 days) and very glad of it! Met my new class yesterday and could be in for an interesting year! They are Year 4 and actually seem pretty nice, but would rather carry on their own conversations than listen to me.... I'll soon knock 'em into shape ( not literally, obviously!)
DD2 started secondary school yesterday and seemed to enjoy it, but she was tired having to get up early this morning too. Very strange to have them all out the house by 7.40, I'm used to her and I having the house to ourselves for a while. Never mind, more time on MSE!
Anyway, finance wise, received £66 in my bank account today for a home trial that I did ( If anyone else got paid £50 for testing something interesting you'll know what it was!) so have arranged to pay £50 of it into joint account. Once the Cap 1 minimum payment, and the school stuff have gone out I should be able to pay another £30 or so off it.

The other £16 I'm keeping for myself to go and have a splurge in Boots as I've got 4 vouchers to use up!
    Hope everyone's well x
  • A whole week since I last updated! Work has been absolutely manic, and with two teenagish girls I 'm not getting near the pc of an evening! Need to get the internet on the laptop but it will have to wait until I've got some money!
Nothing to update on the money front, although looking forward to payday already, the month seems to go so quickly when you have no money!
The direct debit has gone out for cap one so will be able to update my sig shortly, down to £2300 and something. Will probabaly only be paying the minimum off it next month too, although I'm hopint to pay a little more than that.
  • Down to £2340 now, still a long way to go but getting there. Think I'll leave this diary alone now though and just update my sig as needed. Think because I'm not in quite as much trouble with debt as some people on here then people aren't too interested in my boring diary!:rotfl:

I think you should carry on posting on it too Minty - a lot of people read diaries but dont post on them (I am guilty of that!) and it is somewhere to get things off your chest or just get it straight in your own head.

    Dont go! x x

  • Carry on minty!
It's amazing how many people follow these diaries without posting!
who knows who else you are inspiring with this!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
