    The web-site is BEAUTIFUL. :T

You're so right to make it so. This is your shop window, absolutely everybody checks out web-sites nowadays, often it's the first thing they do when they hear of a company.

now how do you get it higher up the google search engine????

Well, today I have been busy listing my website on facebook - on every group that I am a member of which deals with weddings. I have also been daring and stuck it on the one that was set up for my wedding planning course by a fellow student.

I have just come back from posting some vouchers to Flickering Ember and after visiting the post box walked further up the road to see my local florist as she has been really helpful offering me various cards that she has in her shop for musicians, photographers etc. She has agreed to have some of my cards in her shop - I must go out with some cards again at the weekend as I want to go to the local balloon suppliers, the couture bridal shop and another local bridalwear shop (all run by women and we are setting up a networking group so that we can support each other:D ).

Tomorrow is the National Wedding Fair at the NEC - I wonder how much free cake I can blag:rotfl:

Now I just need to get the emails to work because Virgin's POP3 Server is down again:mad: I really will have to find a more reliable email provider - my business email is linked to a different POP3 server but it still seems to be affected (I am a technophobe so it is probably something that I have done)

I would put my website details up but don't want to be accused of touting for business - so I won't.

I could pay google but I am skint and know what they charge - I am listing the site on nearly every facebook wedding site in the hope that I will get some hits. I shall be putting my cards in local shops too and one of my mates has said that she will pass around some cards for me at work. I hadn't got any cards with me when I went out this morning and I mentioned my new business when I was in the chemist asking the pharmacist for advice - she has asked for my card so the next time I pop in I shall take her one or two.

I shall also have my 3 free adverts in the chamber magazine and I will be listing for free on a wedding directory website because they get 1000s of hits.

Best dash - need to do more listing. Glad you like the site Olive:D

    Ain't life strange?

I had a missed call on my mobile so listened to my voicemail and found that it was a chap from a wedding directory called the White Wedding Magazine. We were having a good chat when all of a sudden he said "I like your voice" (now I did think he was being pervy:eek: ) he also said that he thought I sounded confident and determined...this chat was odd. I told him that I was a start up business with literally zero funds so would be looking for some free advertising and that I was going to put a link on his webpage as invited to do so by his wife at a recent wedding fair.

He then offered me a job selling advertising space from home a few hours a week for which I would receive a good salary - I would be selling space to people in the wedding trade. Now then...do I take him up on his offer or not? Being a mercenary sort of person I was thinking that I could get some new contacts in the process. This needs a lot of thought.

We chatted about how a group of us (a local couture house, a bridal shop, a balloon shop, florist, cake shop and beautician) were thinking of setting up a networking/support group just for female entrepreneurs in our locality. He then offered me another deal - if they put ads in this magazine then he would give me a free advert plus we would be invited to have a stand at his wedding shows - the next one being in February.

Now this could be a handy person to know and to be truthful the money would be good whilst I am setting up but I have no idea how the jobcentre would view it:confused: This needs a lot of thought.

Horace can you find out more about this chap/White Wedding Magazine before you commit yourself (or others) to anything?

Sometimes opportunities come up from such innocuous beginnings and turn out to be brilliant, business boosters, sometimes they're a load of hot air :o

I met with white wedding magazine today and politely declined their offer saying that I wanted to concentrate on my business, however, we shall be working together and they have suggested that I set up a blog page on their wedding forum basically telling folks about me and putting a contact number. So we shall wait and see.

The show was good today but I am really tired and my back aches (it seizedup a few times) - methinks I will have to get a tens machine:rolleyes:

I made some excellent contacts, had a makeover (it felt as though my face had been squashed into a pancake and I couldn't wait to get home and get rid of the gunk they had put on me), not many freebies, some handcream, a tiny bar of choc (i mean tiny) some swizzles loveheart favours, some swizzles sweets and that was about it:rolleyes:

Aiming at the mid to high end market is definitely the way to go:D

evab - I might think of gmail because virgin is unreliable and their POP3 server keeps going down, I was without email again last night and its driving me mad:mad:
