                    Hi All
With the on-going price rises in all areas (especially utilities), I wondered what ideas might be out there for an oldstyle hair style ? My hairstyle is a medium bob style but it does take a while to style using a hairdryer to try to give it some body and then I end up using straightners too ! With the cost of electricity always going up, I am looking for ways to not even have to use a hairdryer or straightners, but hopefully maintain a decent looking hairstyle.
What style of hair do other 'oldstylers' have and do you manage to maintain it without having to use hairdryers or straightners etc ?

Mine's a short crop. I never use a hairdryer or anything else electronic to do my hair because I don't actually do anything to it. Comb and leave to dry 0 0

I dont own a hairdryer or straighteners. My hairs dead straight and longish and in fab condition as i dont fry the ends of it on a daily basis like my sisters.0

For year now I've washed it and just left it to dry of its own accord. It's neck length, fringe and seems to always find its own natural way (such as it is)Mary

I also have a bob, I wash my hair every other day and I could not do without a hairdryer if I was going out somewhere. My hair is so straight and there is alot of it.0

Mine's a choppy style that feathers around my jaw at the front and is a bit longer than collar length in the back. I never do anything to it or put anything on it. And it really annoys my friends!
Mind you, I used to pay £35 for a haircut. My OH has long hair, and it worked out he was having more done to his when he had a haircut and paid less, so I decided to look elsewhere. Now, I've found somewhere that will do mine for £10, and it's just as good. Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0 Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0

I also have a short crop. I wet it every morning in the shower (I get some corking bed hairstyles) but only use shampoo twice a week. I rarely use conditioner (only when I'm on holiday and it gets frazzled by the sun and lots of dips in the pool) and my hairdresser always compliments me on the condition of my hair. If we go away I usually forget a brush or comb but thankfully it looks ok using my fingers to comb it. Only downside is that because it's short it does need regular cutting at £16 every 6 weeks.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0

I've never had the patience or talent for blow-drying my hair! I have a just-above-the-shoulder-bob and slightly wavy hair. It looks different every day, depending on how I've slept on it ( and I have a cat that occasionally likes to "knit" with it during the night :rotfl:).
I do have it cut highlighted every 4-5 months, but I have blonde highlights in the summer and coppery-red in the winter. It costs £35-40 but I recoup that by cutting OH's and DS1's hair at home with clippers!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

I have a short bob, but neither the time nor patience for blowdrying
As this isn't strictly Old Style, I'll move it to the Health and Beauty Board

I would love a short crop, but as troll35 mentions, it really needs cutting every 6 weeks and that is expensive! I now have a bob, which my neighbour (a retired beautician) cuts occasionally for free. I rarely use the hairdryer for styling, because my hair is fine, thin and breaks easily, so better to just let it dry. Once it gets too long, I tie it into a little ponytail until my neighbour is in hairdressing mood again. She is not confident enough to do a shorter style, but she does a good bob. I only use the hairdryer on the rare occasions I go out or when I have business meetings (I work from home)."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

My hair, is long and a mass/mess of curls. I never go near it with a hairdryer or I end up looking like Crystal Tips!
I have straightened it on ocassion, but I usually end up with some nasty burns, so i leave that well alone now.
BTW, I never go the the hairdresser, I hate other people touching my hair (I'd rather visit the dentist),_pale_ I trim any stray bits myself, it saves a fortune over the year.Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before0
