First time OS'er needs advice!!

Hi everyone!
Ive been lurking on here for a while and find this board really inspiring, so i've decided to give OS a go!
I'm going to start off small and buy a whole chicken to break down into a few meals.
I thought i could make a chicken pie, risotto and some pasta BUT
ive never actually cooked a whole chicken before so am not sure of that but am also not sure how to store the bits of chicken once im done - i dont want to poison by OH and son!!
So my question is whats the best way to cook a whole chicken (i dont have a slow cooker) and once ive got the bits of chicken off the bone, what do i do with it - do i have to wait til it cools and then store it in the fridge?
But then would it be ok to reheat in meals?
Be gentle with me!!!!;)

Thanks so much

Leanne x

I love boiled chicken it always comes out succulent and moist its so simple too just clean it and put in a pan of boiling water and leave to gently simmer for about an hour to 2 hours depending on the size of the chicken you can also add any herbs that you like to the water. There is an added bonus of a good chicken stock to use as a soup base
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
