IT'S OVER! From debtmonkey & debtmonkey1a!

Hi all,

NOW DISCHARGED! Full year I'm afraid & a BRU undertaking for 3 years (which I don't think is fair BUT on taking lots of advice you don't have a hope in hell of contesting it)-which won't affect my life in the slightest...my credit file is knackered anyway!

Thanks to all on here for help/advice.

To any newbies/lurkers.....if you have crippling debt that will take you longer than 6 years or so to clear & have no discernable assets/equity in your house-DO IT. For me it was 45 mins at court & 2 x 1 1/2 hour OR visits. SO WHAT! 1/2 a day out of a year to clear 1000's of pounds of debt.

So...in my opinion-FORGET THE MORAL ARGUMENTS-your mental health & future is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

I now have a new job to start soon-NO DEBTS -in fact as I share a flat my total outgoings including food are under £400 a month!!

The year has flown by....I feel SO lucky when I hear people at work moaning about credit card bills etc!!!

So ....to end I;d say ...without being flippant the PROCESS is EASY...& nothing to worry about!

Good luck all...will keep popping in from time to time..& of course remember to gwt advice from the relavent charities (!)

    Woo hoo, congratualtions!!!
Shame about the BRO, what did you get it for, out of interest, cos I think you're the first one we've had here.

  • Without going in to too much detail (security & all that!) in a nutshell the BRU was because I apparently knew I was insolvent at the time of taking a further secured loan??! This 'loan' was in fact a 're-written' secured loan as I was in arrears to w*****e finance (rip off high interest 2)%+ APR merchents!) so although on paper it was about £3k all but £800 was used to clear arrears!!!!

From what i can gather more & more BRU/BRO'S are being given out...wander if the insolvency office is unofficially targeted??!

Congrats for seeing it out - can I ask when you heard about the BRU for the first time? My OR threatened me with one when I had my interview last Sept (went BR 31/08) but I haven't heard anything more since and whilst I don't exactly mind logically about getting a BRU, it's a mental thing I guess that I want it all over and forgotten about, so am back to feeling like I did pre-BR with the sickness everyday of 'whats going to come through the letter box' - if I just knew it would be easier, or if I just knew when I was likely to know/when the letter would be coming.

I've heard 6 weeks before AD, which would be in about 2 weeks time I guess - was that correct on timings for you?

Thank you in advance, and well done again, tis all over now :)

I think it's either 2 or 3 months (can't remember which) before AD that they have to start the paperwork for a BRU.

It has to be quite a while before AD, so that there is time to go through the court process of getting a BRO if the BR won't sign the BRU.
