£200 p/month over 3x different saving types
Hi all, Just looking for some advice... I'm 28 (soon to be 29) and have got to that point where I've realised i really need to look at the future. I currently have no savings, and know pretty much nothing about savings/investments. My plan is to start some savings, but splitting them up over different savings/investments.…

123 ISA Santander
Hello, Please can you someone help? I've got a 123 ISA which pays 2.3% for 2 years. I am sure this wasn't mention when I opened this but received an email advising me that I'm unable to pay anymore into the ISA after 31st August. My question is I've paid about 5k in so far which leaves another 10K left from allowance but…

Is Ratesetter safe?
Has anyone dealt with Ratesetter please? Looking for a fixed rate bond or similar savings plan, and Ratesetter came up on Compare the Market as offering 4.8% on 3 years and 6.2% for 5 years. Sounds too good to be true which rings alarm bells - but the fact that it appears on a reputable comparison site makes me wonder if…

Trust Deed and Inheritance advice please
My husband's Uncle Ted left his estate to his daughter to be held in trust for her as she is educationally sub-normal. On her death the trust was to be wound up and left to my husband. Unfortunately my husband has died. Can someone tell me when the daughter dies does the money that was going to be left to my husband goes…

Secure Trust Bank 120 Day Tracker Account closing
Received a letter today giving 2 months notice that this account paying 2.5% above base rate is closing on 10th September. Very disappointing but I see they lowered the interest rate earlier this year on their 183 day Tracker. It will be possible for existing holders to transfer funds to a 120 Day Notice Variable Interest…

How best to invest £50,000?
Almost a hypothetical question. I'm thinking about selling the house I own in Spain and could potentially end up with 50 grand in cash. I don't have a property in the UK. Is property still a good investment here, or could my money work harder for me invested elsewhere?

Stagecoach "Transaction in Own Shares"
I've noticed the Stagecoach share price has come down a bit today, on their website they've stated the company bought 26,000 shares in the company on 7 July and and 75,000 on 8 July. Is this considered a negative thing to do and is why the share price is coming down? I am in the company BAYE scheme but don't really have…

junior account to increase savings interest?
So as I understand it, I can put my money into my child's savings account and as long as the interest on that money is less than £100 per year then the child pays no tax. If I withdraw the money from the account at the end of the year, is there a tax implication for me?

ISA Vs 123 Acc
I am wondering which is better to use, i understand there are many variables, 123 is subject to tax, ISA's are fixed or instant access etc I can lock away my money for two years poss three but i would like to have access. Changing platform for ISA shares
My ISA shares are curerntly held on Co-Funds. I want to move to a new IFA and have met two potential firms, neither of which use Co-Funds. One says the shares would need to be re-bought (that's probably the wrong term but hopefully you know what I mean) on the new platform and he would charge a 3% fee. The other IFA says…

High Interest Current Accounts
I have just retired at age 60 and have ~£20k from tax-free lump sums on which, like everybody else, I would like to get some half decent interest :) . All mortgages, credit cards, loans, etc paid :j. ISA limit used up to new £15k limit. Being risk averse, high interest current accounts look to be the best choice for…

As a non UK resident ( living in Asia) I no longer have the option of ISAs open to me. I am looking to start a Vanguard LS investment plan for the long term and I am unsure of the best way to do this. It seems like as a non resident, investing thru a UK platform is not possible. I would be grateful for any advice regarding…

Investment platforms and first time investing
Hi all, I've been reading about investing but i'm a bit confused when it actually comes to investing in a particular fund. From what i understand, you find a fund you want to invest in and say its offered by a major bank. I could apply directly to the bank to invest in that particular product although some products require…

Pay back key worker loan VS something else?
Hi. I would like advice please as to what to do with £60k I have in savings. About £35k is in an ISA, 10k in Premium Bonds and the rest in a current account. I have a house in Barking & Dagenham, East London, that is worth about £220k of which I have paid the mortgage off. However, I bought the house with the help of a key…

how do people pay safely to invest using on-line platforms
Hi, please forgive this rather naive question but after much research I have selected the funds into which I wish to invest a lump sum ( thanks to previous guidance on here), and also researched which platform is the best to use but it looks like they require payment by debit card but I am wary about using a debit card…

New ISA Query
Hi there, this is a quick ISA question to any expert out there: Background Having stuck the maximum £5,940 in to my cash ISA at the beginning of the 14/15 fiscal year, I’ve now come to top it up to £15k in line with the new rules. However, I notice that my ISA with the Cheshire BS has a 2% bonus ending on 31st July. The…
