20k euros - what to do?
Hi, I've currently got 20k euros, 17k of which are in a savings account that gives me an interest of 1.75%. I was planning to wait until the euro would gain against the pound a bit more, and then convert them into pounds. Now that the euros has fallen, I'm not sure what to do anymore. Any suggestions?

Schedule 19 SDRT abolished from April 2014
The budget has announced the abolition of schedule 19 Stamp Duty Reserve Tax from April 2014. This will slightly reduce the cost of investing in UK equity OEICS and unit trusts :j Schedule 19 SDRT is a complicated 0.5% tax on the surrender of units back to an OEIC manager. If say there is a net inflow of £60,000 into a UK…

BTL investment + 20% of property price from government?
Further to the budget announcement earlier today, has anyone seen any details if you can get a mortgage on BTL terms and then receive the 20% (loan) from the government towards it? From what I understand so far, I could get a mortgage with a 5% deposit from me plus 20% deposit from the government and, providing I never get…

£25k - what shall I do with it
I have £25k in an account with the halifax which isn't earning much. We may have to use some of it within 6 weeks - maybe all of it. "Renewable Energy Certificates" ?
Been called recently by one or more companies wanting to inform me that the above REC's will shortly become tradeable. I suspect this is a grooming exercise in that they only want to alert me as a long-term holder of B Gas related shares, Nat Grid & Centrica, I qualify to buy REC's in early trading. Price should be low and…

Percentage Changes
If you have a £100 investment that increases by 10% (£100 * 1.1 = £110), but then decreases by 10% the next day (£110 * 0.9 = £99) you’ve lost a pound. But if you change the order, so the investment first decreases by 10% (£100 * 0.9 = £90), and then increases by 10% the next day (£90 * 1.1 = £99) you’ve still lost a…

Investing in land - a good idea?
Hi folks I am thinking of buying some land and then hopefully sell it in the next few years in order to make a good profit. Do you think it is a good idea? Advice pl on best easy access savings
I've never really saved before but will soon have around £50k following redundancy. I don't want to tie it all up long term as I expect within a year to move home and then make some long term investments. I've been to see an IFA and have plans for when I have a larger sum to invest. Having read the info on MSE, I was…

Hi all, This is my first post and I'm hoping for some informed advice.
