Interest on Social Club Funds
Can anyone suggest where surplus funds held by a social club could be invested safely and securely to earn a fair rate of interest. These funds are currently held in both a bank and building society and are earning next to nothing. Thanks

Inheritance Investment
My children are going to receive some inheritance from their grandfather, which is about 50k. The money will need to be invested for approx 15 years, and obviously I want to do the best I can for them. Any suggestions on the best approach, I am unsure if I should invest it all in one or split it up into several investments.

Now this IS a good e-petition...
Ever been caught out by banks etc ending an ISA deal and not telling savers they are going to be payed 0.1% interest P.A? I don't know if the objective of the petition is feasible within current legislation, BUT ISA's were introduced to encourage savers weren't they? And not a cash cow for the banks etc?

Alermore 1yr fixed rate bond maturing - new deal offered
Just a quick heads up to anyone whose bond is maturing as mine is on 29th March. If you go online and look at maturity options they have another 1yr bond on offer with monthly interest at 3.4%, which is better than their deal for new customers and better than anything else on the market. What a refreshing change for a bank…

Sneaky banks
Looking for a fixed term ISA I find that quite a few banks say 2 or 3 year terms, but when I looked closely they mature in May of 2014 or 2015. I think this means that when they do mature, the better rate ISAs which are always available around the end of the tax year, probably will not be around to transfer into. :o :(

unable to withdraw
I've sold a flat STC, but the buyer said he was unable to withdraw money from a savings account: "Some of our client's deposit is tied up in an account which, unknown to our client he is unable to withdraw until a 12 month period has expired. Our client was under the impression that he would be able to withdraw the money…

Shares - what to do?
I've just acquired some shares from a family member and been sent a letter from Santander about dividends - essentially do I want to get them in cash or get more shares. I'm not really financially minded and have only accepted the shares as the person who had had them really wanted rid and thought they would make a nice…

What were you like in your teens/20s with money?
Hi everybody, I am not sure if this is the right sub-forum but I have always wondered what my finances are like for a 23 year old in comparison to others. I know I should not compare but I am continuously grappling with the idea of living life wildly and saving up/investing for later life. Never sure which path to…

lump sum investment - maybe for a year
Hi - my wife and I have sold a property and will take about £85k from the sale - we're not really sure what to do with it! I want to keep quite low risk - i.e. not put the capital at risk as we will want to buy another property with the cash, possibly later this year, more likely in about a years time. We are both fully…

Lloyds Banking Group dividends
Dad has a small handful of these shares as a result of the Halifax acquisition, whereas I have a reasonable holding of shares from before the dreaded saga of share values basically becoming almost worthless. I should have sold them long before, but I didnt! End of. One of those if only we had hindsight situations!!…

Best way to save when living overseas?
Hello, I've recently started an overseas contract with my employer. It means living and working overseas (in Asia) but still being paid in GBP. It also puts me in the fortunate position of being able to pay off any outstanding borrowing and then put aside a decent amount of money each month. The trouble I'm having, is…
