UK investing from Canada
I'm currently a premanent resident in Canada originally from the UK. My wife and I recently sold our property in the UK following some bad experiences with the rental market. We've brought some of the equity from the house over to Canada but stopped since the FX rate is basically sucking and has been for a while with no…

Money saved in pounds, but want to convert to Euros!
Hello wise and wonderful moneysaving folks. My partner and I have some money saved, but are about to move to Spain this year. With exchange rates so poor it would be foolish to convert the lot of it into Euros, and we don't need to touch the money yet anyway. However, it is likely that we will need to spend the money in…

Lost shares
Apologies upfront if I've posted this on the wrong board. Just a general question regarding shares, or more to the point lost shares as a result of administration. I purchased shares in a company I was working for at the time, which subsequently went into administration. I left the company prior to the adminstration.…

Where to put (some) profit from FUND ISAs
Hi New to the forum so please go easy on me. I have (set up few years ago) fund ISAs with Fidelity and Jupiter. I have made some money on both of these ISAs over the 6 six years or so that I have held them. Now, what I would like to do is take the profit out of it leaving my initial investment in each of the ISAs. That…

Withdrawing Money From ISA
I have had an ISA with Halifax since 2002 which has very low interest, 0.1%. I want to put it into a higher earning interest cash ISA. The ISA I opened last tax year pays 3.5% but does not allow transfers. Can I just draw my money out of halifax and pay it into my other ISA, as long as I do not exceed my limit?

Sector Allocation/Rebalancing for First Time
Hi, Looking for some assistance to clarify my thoughts and see if there's anything I've not thought of WRT rebalancing my S&S ISA. Not expecting anyone to tell me what to do just bounce ideas around and hopefully keep my DIY investments sane. First things I'm 27 and am fully prepared for high risk due to my likely 40 year…

Notification of interest rate changes from banks
I understand that banks etc have a legal obligation to notify customers of any changes to interest rate changes and accept that they satisfy this obligation. However I feel very strongly that they manner in which they do is unsatisfactory and certainly not customer friendly. When interest rates change I receive a…

Funds Selector
So we have a sticky to discuss shares but i thought a thread on funds may be of interest to some people. I've just started looking at unit trusts and OEICS as investment and would be interested in other MSE'ers views on which sectors, and funds within the sectors, managers etc. Also interested in what tools/sites people…

Savings
Hi, I'm after some advice from the experts on this forum, as my knowledge of savings is very limited! I'm due to receive an inheritance (just accepted offer on the property, so assuming it doesn't fall through won't receive the money for a while yet), but my share is approx £20k. I'm guessing a cash ISA up to the limit of…

Charge for s975 Tax Certificate?
I have long been aware that banks could charge for a duplicate s975 certificate of tax paid, but today was rather taken aback to be asked for £8 just for the issuance of an original. The young man with the charming Northern Irish accent clearly felt that this was but a matter of routine in informing me that a charge would…

ISA Allowance
Hello, I invested my full £3,600 ISA allowance in April 2009. In October 2009, after the rule change for those over 50, I invested a further £1.500 but with different supplier as my original supplier did not allow 'top-ups'. I've just been told by the second supplier that this 'top-up' was illegal as I'm not allowed to use…
