Bf's lightbulb moment
My bf had been drip feeding into an ING account for years even though I had mentioned that they were no longer competitive. Today I get a text from him asking what the highest rate of interest I get on my savings is. I said it depended (highest rate is 12%!) and asked why he wanted to know. "Icesave.Co.Uk are doing 5.70%"…

Moving abroad but keeping bank a/c here?
Hi all, I'm quite new to this forum so please be gentle! I wanted to ask if anybody knows anything about leaving money in bank accounts here in England if you emigrate abroad. I'm due to emigrate later in the year and I have saved a substantial amount of money over the last few years by living with my parents. I would like…

ICICI Interest Payment
Hello all you ICICI account holders. The ICICI Ts&Cs say they pay interest on the last day of the month, but I've logged in just now and no interest payment yet. Last month's was done early due to the Bank Holidays, but this month nothing as yet. Their system runs on Indian time I think as it already says "balance as of…

Windfall Shares??
Hi y'all, I was tidying the study last night and came across a couple of old pass books. I have around £500 in a Nationwide B/Society postal account which I was leaving in there in case they ever de-mutualised. I also have around £200 in a Yorkshire B/Society account which, again, I was leaving in there just in case. Both…

investments
Hi I have two thousand pounds to invest and was wondering with the current ecconomic growth in China, would it be a good time to invest in companies overthere. Raw materials, credit, insurance and transport seem to be the way to go.

Barclays 12.5% interest rate, is it real?
Has anyone heard about the savings account Barclays are offering at the moment, with an interest rate of 12.5%? Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. My boyfriend has been offered it on the basis he puts £250 in a month and it's not an instant access account and today when I rang the bank to cancel my overdraft (hurrah!),…

Nationwide internet Banking Fault!
Hi, Despite being very very careful when inputing data on my Nationwide Account,(Internet Banking) on Monday, I was locked out. After talking to them on the telephone they confirmed they would have to send a new Passnumber. This has arrived today and I have just tried again using the new information and I have been…

Turned down by A+L
I used to have a current account + savings/ISA with A+L. Back in May I applied for a loan with moneyback bank (owned by A+L). They refused me. I contacted A+L who put through another application but I was refused again (so 2 searches I guess). I had about 30k in an online saver with them and another 10k in an ISA so this…

Making my Overdraft work for me...
I was thinking about this last night over my cocoa :) and wondered what you guys thought. I'm moving over current accounts to A+L which comes with a 12mth 0% overdraft, and thought to myself "why not make use of the free cash loan?" I think my options are: 1. Throw it into my Cash-ISA (currently HSBC, 4.25% - soon YBS,…

Is the Selestia route any good?
I have £150K to invest. My self and my wife both have fully topped up ISA accounts. I am 54 and will be looking to review my position again (possibly retire) when I am 60. At my age I feel a Medium to Low risk exposure is now probably the most sensible option. I recently visited an IFA who suggested one option would be to…

Best place to put...
I have £20k to put somewhere...and I need to work out where is the best place. I have already used up this year's cash ISA allowance and could always put £3k to one side for post April. But where is the best place for interest to put the rest? I have no urgent need of the cash right now, but may need it for house deposit…

TMF Share Dealing
Hi There Does anyone have any experience of TMFs new share dealing service (Good or bad)? I've read some quite worrying reports on Hoodless Brennan and don't feel confident enough to open an account with them. Basically I want a cheap but reliable execution only service where I won't be hounded to buy penny share…
