Pension release at 55 advice please.
Hello. I have recently become redundant. I will be 55 next month and I am thinking about taking some money out of my pension pot, which is not big and then use the money to set up working for myself. I am aware of 25% being tax free and the rest taxed but want to know if my redundancy money will be affected by this. My…

Over pay pension or mortgage?
Hi there, I'm looking for advice on what would be the best option for me. I am 48 this year, with one wage coming into the house. I currently have a private pension that I pay £102 a month but I have been looking on some pension calculators and it looks like I will only be getting approx. £1500 a year if I retire at 67. My…

Pension pot
My husband took early retirement last January age 53 and gets £692 a month from his private works pension. No tax as he doesn't earn enough. Trivial commutation of £39000
I've just received a statement from a work pension from years ago. I only worked for the company for 2 years (32 years ago) and hadn't even realised I had a pension! My puzzlement arises because they've quoted me £39K as a trivial commutation lump sum. I thought the maximum was £30K? Can anyone shed any light for me?

Deferred LGPS pension
Hi, I am a 33 year old male and have been paying into the LGPS since 2009 and had a question about some of the pension I have accrued. Under the scheme rules until March 2014, I was able to start receiving my LGPS without any deductions from age 65. If I delay taking it though, would I end up getting more? I ask because…

Teachers' Pensions?
Hi, I am due to retire next week but had heard nothing from Teachers' Pensions [TP], so a week ago I wrote them to remind them. TP had already sent me a full pension forecast last year. Today I received a raft of forms in the post [Age app / Oct 2015] and why weren't these sent out to me months ago? There's 11 pages to get…

IFAs Investigated for Pension Mis-selling
I know people don't like me criticising IFAs and other finance professionals, but this needs highlighting. Also let's get it out the way that you shouldn't believe everything you read in the press. Anyway besides that here's an interesting mis-selling case. Investors have been have seen the value of their SIPPs fall from…
