Hi all I wonder if anyone can advise. I've searched the thread but not found a specific answer to my query. If a house is left to his two sons in a will by a father (whose wife has already passed away) and the value of the house and land is approx £300,000 firstly will all the value be included for inheritance tax purposes…

Help for carers?
Not sure where to put this one, but here goes... My mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's Plus, lewy body disease and other demenia-related ailments 3 years ago. It now seems very likely that permanent care is on the horizon, due to the social services involvement in the last few weeks. Admittedly, it has been getting hard…

Re-mortgaging and pensions
I was wondering: If I re-mortgaged my house, and lets say i released £30000 in doing so. Then i pay that money as a lump-sum into my personal pension. i assume I get that 'grossed-up' by 22% (6,600). Thus I put 36,600 into my pension in one lump. Let's assume this is less than 100% of my salary. If my mortgage is at 5.00…

State Pension - Deferral - any thoughts? (Is my question not interesting enough?)
I shall be 62 in July and could have drawn my State Pension, I have 29 qualifying years which should give me 77%, the reason I left it was because I have been earning a wage and it would have been taxed. My job is coming to an end and I will then hopefully be taking a seasonal job starting March and ending October that…

Will i get a pension?
My wife is under the impression that we will not be getting a pension due to the Government doing away with them; we are due to retire in 2035 and 2036 (me with a private military pension also). We are both workers (1 x part time and 1 x full time) and so both pay taxes and NI. I have no idea where she has got this…

Edinvestor
Can I ask where you get your figure of £10,000 as the maximum advisable for pension income? I thought tax started to be paid at around £7000 for pensioners? And also, does that figure include the basic state pension, or are you referring to pension income from other pensions only?

Advice on a very small pension
I took out a pension with Sun Life of Canada in 1984, paying £50 a month. However, I stopped paying into it after 1 year (£600). It's current value is £539.92 - not a great return I'm sure you'll agree. It's Transfer value is £453.46. Any advice as to what I should do with this if anything? cheers Sweven

Question about 40% Taxation re Pensions
Hi only just noticed that the money I'm putting into my pension is only getting standard tax rate applied to it. Rather than the 40% it should be. Is it my employers responsibility to change this or is this something I need to claim back by filling in a tax return form. I've been making contributions for about 3 years, so…
