American cookery terms
I prefer to use American recipes as they use cups which I find easier to remember and use. I'm trying to make a banana and walnut loaf and the recipe uses baking soda, another recipe I looked at used baking powder. So is baking soda - bicarbonate of soda? and is baking powder what we call baking powder? HELP! lol

How do I use soya mince?
Just read the Quinoa thread and it reminded me that I have a packet of soya mince in the cupboard that I've been too frightened to use not knowing what it tastes like. Is it a good substitute for Quorn/mince for spaghetti bolognese/chilli etc or does it taste yuk?
Watch out for Tesco's Value
Whilst shopping in Tesco's lately I have noticed that they appear to be playing a nasty game. Several items were packaged as "Value" products, you therefore expect them to be the cheapest. I brought Ready Brek porridge instead of buying the sachets which was only 99p and will last me ages. brought Mr Sheen in the can (33% extra free) instead of the usual wipes.
