I've been asked to, and have paid, the valuation fee to Halifax today. Does this mean I've passed the initial checks and it's looking promising?

Early repayment charge - would a lender ever waive it?
Hello folks, I have a HTB London property with a Halifax mortgage of £100,000 and a HTB equity loan of about the same. I would be around 70% LTV if I extended my mortgage to buy out the equity loan, which I can now afford to do. The Halifax mortgage is just over 3 years into a 5 year fix at 2.9%, with an ERC of 3% for the…

"Consumer BTL" / property business
We own a house in London, which we lived in for 4 years until 2017, after which we moved away, bought a house elsewhere, and we now rent out the London property. We don't live in the London house now and we will not live in London ever again. The property is run purely as a (nicely profitable) rental business, which we…

Talk of mortgage payment holiday extending to 6 months or 12 months....
Would you take it or is it more harm than good really....surely credit files will see no payments or reducing balance....and it will make things difficult in the future. Banks have all sorts of coding/software to track all sorts we wont ever know.

I have a mortgage(along with my full time employed partner) offer in hand, and going through the purchase process right now. Endowment surrender value reduction excessive
I have an endowment that had a surrender value of 19750 in November. The surrender value as of today is 2k less. I appreciate that endowments can go up and down so wasn't surprised it's now a lower value during these times and with the stock market being lower. I was surprised that the value had reduced so much. My…

1st mortgage in middle of COVID-19
Hello, The current buzz about mortgages is that banks have basically slashed the LTV ratios and have gone ultra conservative on lending, which I can understand. That said....I might want a mortgage. What are the chances of getting one, do you think? In summary, I might be looking to borrow at about a 75% LTV, around…
