Should I fix?
Hi all, 6 months ago we took the plunge & a took out a lengthy mortgage for our 'forever' house. At the time fixing was expensive although we'd have preferred to have fixed with the increase in both length of term & monthly payments. We took out HSBCs 2.59% variable lifetime tracker. I've had my head turned by Nationwide's…

Should I exit my mortgage early and pay a penalty?
I have a fixed rate mortgage until Jan 31 2016. If I exit the mortgage end of Jan 2015 I will pay a £4,000 fee. If I leave in June 2015 I will pay £2,000. Come Jan 31 2016 it won’t cost me anything. My concern is that at the moment there are some very good fixed rate deals. I can get a fixed rate of under 3% now to…

What mortgage options do I have to buy a flat for my in-laws?
As per the title, can anyone offer me some tips? We want to move my increasingly infirm in-laws to live near us, but the amount they'll get for their house won't buy anything in our area. They should get about £150k, and I'm looking to borrow about £90k to add to this. They won't get a mortgage, so it will have to be us…

Self employed mortgage - 2 years SA302 from different companies?
Hi everyone We recently applied to port our A&L mortgage to Santander whilst attempting to loan more. Does borrowing more create a "second charge" if moving main mortgage in 12 months
I have a mortgage with Nationwide. I'm looking at borrowing £12k more which creates a new mortgage in my name with them. If in 12 months I remortgage my main mortgage to another lender on a better deal will the fact I have a small mortgage with Nationwide count as a "second charge" ? Thanks
