Buy To Part-Let?
Hey, I'm currently looking to buy a house (first-time buyer) and when I approached my bank (Abbey) and said that I wanted a 2 bedroom and was going to rent out the second and I had someone to rent it out to, they added that income onto my income to calculate the amount I could borrow. Now I found a place I like and went…

Or does it simply not make a difference? hopefully not a stupid question…

Basic deposit question
Hi, I have a mortgage agreed with a 20% deposit. I have been told upon exchange of contracts I will need to pay an additional 5-10%? I do not have enough money to pay an additional 5-10% especially considering I have to pay 4% stamp duty. What is the normal process of paying this 5-10% deposit? What happens to the 5-10%?

Should I take a Lifetime tracker?
I found tracker mortgages are more attractive than fixed rate mortgages in terms of interest rates. I'm thinking to take a lifetime tracker for my new home. I was looking at the T&Cs of some of them (eg, Woolwich lifetime tracker) and they allow switching to a fixed rate anytime without early repayment charge. Given…

A cheaper way to get a valuation?
Looking at remortgaging, but our LTV is right on the border of 80% on my estimate of what my house is worth (my estimate is based on what Halifax's computer reckons the house was worth back in march). Just speaking to a lender who has good rates in our area, they would need to value the house (obviously) but will charge us…
