Standard Life Bank being sold to Barclays? What would happen to mortgage customers?
Hi, About 8 months ago I posted a thread on here about how uncompetitive Standard Life were being with their mortgage products and how frustrating it was being trapped with them as my equity was probably too low to move. It seems now that there is a lot of coverage in the press about a possible takeover by Barclays as…

My 5yr fixed rate mortgage is due to expire in August 2010 (4.89%). 1.Should I redeem now and pay the penalty and benefit from a cheaper variable rate before fixing again? 2. Redeem and lock into another fixed rate? 3. Or just wait until the fixed rate is up? Just feel I'm missing out, but is it worth the penalty?…

Is it worth waiting to pay down credit cards?
Last Friday, I was about to pull the trigger and ask my IFA to make an application on my behalf for a mortgage with Halifax. He has told me that, provided you get an 'A' pass on the credit check, and have a LTV of 75% or less, they will fast-track an application. I also believe they'll offer something pretty close to a 5 x…
