He already has the following mortgages: 1) 50% of a house with his best friend which they have stated as their primary residence, they have a 10 year mortgage deal. 2) 50% of a buy-to-let mortgage I currently rent and have never had a mortgage. As the new…

Mortgage Survey
Hi, I took out a 3 year fixed rate fees free mortgage with HSBC. I had a basic survey done which cost me £150 and then HSBC had their own done. Once I recived a copy of the survey HSBC had done, I realised it was a copy of the original survey I had paid £150 for. I called them up and explained this and they said they paid…

Overpayment question
I have 2 mortgages both on same rate, i can overpay £500 on each. Does it make any difference which one i overpay on if one is £100k and the other is £50k. Or does it just shrink the total down as it only comes out as one payment anyway?

Freehold flat mortgage providers
Hi We are looking at buying a free hold flat valued at £350,000 but only needing to borrow £90,000 so a fairly low LTV rate. Trouble is we are struggling to find lenders who will lend on freehold flats. So far we have Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Life and The Scarborough Building Society (who sadly on lend on freehold…

Mortgage Final settlement offer
Hi, we have 13 years left on our Halifax mortgage and a blanance of £33k. Save or Overpay mortgage??
Just after some opinions really..... I took out a mortgage of £272,000 in December 2005 at 4.69% fixed for 5 years. There shouldn't be any issues re: negative equity (hopefully) later on as current LTV is about 74%. Given the rate is pretty good in today's climate, would you recommend making overpayments on the mortgage or…

LTV Question
Hello all, My fixed mortgage (2 yr fixed 5.75% 39 yr repayment from Scottish Widows) ends in December and at the moment I'm trying to see what product would best suit me. I need a mortgage of 86k (less than 3 times my salary) On looking about it seems I can get an okay deal if I have a 75% or lower loan to value ratio but…

£35,000 is safe, but how does this affect an offset mortgage?
Hi. My parents are in the lucky position (After 20+ years!) of nearly having paid/being able to pay off their mortgage. However, to enable them to do what they want, when they want, they still technically have a sizeable offset mortgage, and a nearly as large savings account (about £100k mortgage, £95k savings/current…

Pay off mortgage?
We have ~ £114,000 in savings (after a recent windfall). There is £57,000 left on a repayment mortgage over 14 yrs (standard variable rate 6.4%) @ ~ £576/month. There would be no penalty (only a £115 repayment adminstration fee). Should we pay the mortage off or save/invest instead?

Assigning endowment
Anyone know out there if you unassign your endowment from your mortgage to yourself do you lose out tax wise. We are still going to pay the mortgage off with it but it will come to us first rather than the mortgage company. Any thoughts on this would be gratefully accepted ta
