Tracker rate to more than double on Friday!!
Hi, My current deal comes to an end in March so I rang my current Mortgage provider to see what they could offer. The best mortgage (for me) that they offer at the moment is a 3 yr Base Rate Tracker at +0.4% (Currently at 5.9%). This is especially good as there are no fees at all. Now this sounds like a pretty good offer…

An equity transfer conundrum: do we have to pay twice?
Greetings, money savers, and a happy new year. I'm interested in anyone's perspective or experience of the costs involved in having one party's name removed from a mortgage agreement and the deeds a property. It's following an amicable break-up (so no stress there) and one party leaving the country (potentially complex…

Since when does 2 years equal 22 months?
Hi, Myself and my partner bought a mortgage with a preferential rate for 2 years in February 2006. We were made a formal mortgage offer in Dec 2005 but did not take up the offer (or recieve any funds) until February 2006 due to delays with the chain. Thus we began repaying the mortage in March 2006. However we recently…

The effects of joint finances.
My credit history is good, my partners is very bad. If we get a joint mortgage, how will this realistically effect me? I know we will be linked financially... but if I apply for credit, will they actually search his credit file too, and potentially reject me on the basis that he is bad at paying things back? Even though it…

Hi, Background - my credit file looks good, my partners is horrific. If by some miracle, someone is willing to give us a mortgage, it will clearly be a sub-prime lender. Help I am trying to remortgage as a sole customer
Please help, I am trying not to get ripped off. I have a very limited time to remortgage my house after a court order a couple of weeks ago where I have managed to buy my ex out of his half of the house and now have to come up with a viable mortgage to take it over in my sole name. Unfortunately I was not the wage earner…

Excess interest scandal when redeeming an offset mortgage
If you have recently redeemed, or are about to redeem, an offset mortgage, beware of lenders who 'forget' about the offset in the last part-month of the mortgage. I recently redeemed a fully offset mortgage, so I was surprised to find that the final redemption balance (excluding the unlawful redemption fee) was…

Lenders offers have small print which gives them carte blanche
Are there any circumstances in which lenders cannot withdraw offers? The purchase process can, as we all know, involve much time and expense on the part of the potential borrower - surveys etc... ..and then the lender can always withdraw at any time without so much as a by-your-leave?

Endowment Mis-selling Question
I have five endowment policies currently with Winterthur. They were originally purchased through Colonial Mutual, before they were taken over. 2-3 years ago, I went through the complaints process (on the basis I was mis-sold) but my complaint was thrown out. During the summer, they wrote to me basically asking if I would…
