Loan agreement with ex-partner - Legal?
Hello, I am looking at lending some money to my ex to help her and my daughter out. I have been looking at templates online (i.e.: https://www.lawdepot.co.uk/contracts/loan-agreement/ ). Would such loan agreement be legally binding? Or should I go through a solicitor? If so, do you have any idea of the costs involved? Any…

Take out final year maintenance loan?
My student loan is the 1998-2011 type so the interest is the lower of the rate of inflation or the Bank of England base rate, plus 1%. I have taken out student loans for the previous 3 years however I do not need the maintenance loan for my final year due to savings. Should I take the loan as the interest is so low and put…

Sainsburys loan
I applied for a sainsburys loan this evening (£11.5k) and expected an instant decision once I'd got through the online application - however at the end it basically just said "thanks, we'll be in touch". Not even an email confirmation of my application... Should I be concerned? I thought I'd get an agreement in principle…

Loan payment dates
Hi, without going into a long and boring story, I've just been told by someone from HSBC that my loan payments show up as late because I make them too early (due on 17th, made around 9th) and the system doesn't recognise the payment as being made. Does anybody know if this is true? Thanks.

Instant Loan
My friend has just contacted me annoyed and panicky as he has just been to check his online banking and there is a £41 credit into his account from Instant Cash Loans. He has never attempted to take out a cash loan and never would do. He has never had a credit card or any other sort of bank loan. He has contacted the bank…

Section 75a protection
Hi all, I'm in a bit of a dilemma over car finance, the finance covers a car that does not fall under standard section 75 protection so a credit card isn't sufficient and 75a applies to the PCP agreement. What I'm wondering is if I'm still covered under 75a if I "withdraw" from the finance within 14 days of signing for it…

What circumstances makes a secured loan the best option?
I am 'sort of' considering taking out a secured loan to combine home improvements with some debt consolidation. Now, it's clear that unsecured debt should not be turned to secured but I am unable to borrow more on my mortgage. I have no unsecured options available to me at this point. Basically I have around 50% LTV on my…

Did my PPI pay off my loan?
Hello everyone, I have questions that needs answering as I can't ask my bank in case it opens up a can of worms. I had a £11000 from my bank roughly 8 years ago. I managed to pay off the first 2 years which covered the interest, I can't remember why I stopped paying but I did. I did take out PPI at the time but didn't…

How true is it that unsecured loan providers wont lend above 50% loan:salary ratio?
I've heard this being mentioned a lot, and I'm wondering how true it is. I would be interested in anyone's recent borrowing experiences. I was hoping to raise unsecured borrowing which would bring my total amount to 80% of my salary amount. Whilst this sounds a lot, I have a relatively low mortgage repayment and other…

Selling car on HP (PCP) agreement
I'm moving out of the country and want to get rid of my car that's currently on a HP (3 Year PCP) deal with Citroen finance. Sorry for some vagueness to follow with figures, I'm out of the country and don't have my paperwork to hand. I bought the car in January 2014 and borrowed £14,450 at (I think) 4.9% at £261pm for 36…

Incorrectly Charged interest on car finance
I financed a car almost exactly a year ago. I was told I would be paying about £180 a month with a £400 deposit and no interest. When it got to signing the paperwork the dealer waived the deposit as I would have struggled to find it. This in turn put the payments up but now I'm paying interest on the car. It works out I'm…
