Price matching in store

I feel rather silly posting this as it's probably already well known, but I didn't, so maybe it can help someone else knowing Christmas is coming up soon

My lads birthday next month popped into the toys r us a few days ago, they were in the middle of changing layout so price tags weren't on many things, I had a check on my phone for a lego tub it said £27.99 on their website so took it to the tills, as I was putting in my pin number I noticed it said £34.99.

Happened to mention it to check out it's cheaper online and she said 'Stop then, I'll price match it - what shop is at?' I said this one.

She basically said that they have to compete with other retailers online so price cheaper online then in store but will price match the same item from any online store - tesco/argos and such (not ebay/amazon). She said 90% of other retailers will do this too.

I found it quite handy as often I'll go to a store where it's a few quid more expensive just because it's more local. So now I know I can get it for a cheaper price too.

Just incase anyone didn't know this was an option! :T

Official MoneySavingExpert insert Tue 20 Sep: Toys 'R' Us says its price-matching policy applies to in-store purchases only. It will price-match its own online prices in store, as well as nationally advertised prices from other retailers, providing that retailer has the product in stock and it’s within seven days of the price being advertised. We’ve asked Toys 'R' Us to confirm which retailers it doesn’t price match against, but it hasn’t got back to us yet – we’ll update here when it does.

Big thanks to Jamiesmum for the original spot!

Don't fell silly in posting this tip.

This is how this site works, we post information about things we discovered, so others don't get fleeced.

To be honest I'm as tight as anything and this info made me stop and think, so you've helped one person already.
