About Swim Safe
Whether by the sea, river or lake, the skills involved in keeping safe in open water are different to those in an indoor pool, where most swimming lessons take place.
That’s why The ASA, the national governing body for swimming in England, and the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea, have launched Swim Safe. Swim Safe is an annual programme of outdoor swimming and water safety sessions for all 7–14 year-olds at beaches and lakes across UK locations. And the best thing about Swim Safe is that it is FREE to attend.
What's included?
Swim Safe provides the opportunity for children to enjoy a fun, structured swimming session at a choice of open water locations – and learn all about how to stay safe.
Beach safety advice provided by qualified lifeguards.
Up to 30 minutes in-water tuition with ASA-accredited swimming teachers.
Who can attend?
Children aged between 7-14 years.
They must be able to swim a minimum of 25 metres to take part.
Last year, Swim Safe was attended by 5,435 children with an average of 11 children attending each session across six weeks. It was so successful that this summer the programme has been extended to fourteen locations
Official MoneySavingExpert insert Tue 28 Jun: Swim Safe has told us this free scheme is available at 14 sites across England, Wales and the Isle of Man in July and August. The number of sessions differ per site (some run for a few days, others run for a few weeks), with the earliest beginning on Fri 15 July. Each site holds three or four sessions per day, with each session lasting about an hour (including up to 30 minutes in the water with ASA-accredited swimming teachers). It says an average of 11 children attend each session. You can book a place up to the day of any session (providing there are places left). When we checked at 4pm on Tue 28 Jun, there were about 8,350 places still available.
Big thanks to sarah1972 for the spot!

Seems to me a great initiative. My 8 years old Nephew would love to learn how to swim. Is there any registration procedure? If so, can I register online?0
