Just a quick request after reading the thread about The Fall
I have relations coming from the states next week and they are big Game of Thrones fans - would anyone be so good as to share any of the film locations that they know of as I think they would like to visit these more than their irish relations!
Cheers

No experience of Ireland myself, but am a fan of The Game of Thrones. A quick google brings up this page of photos taken at Ballintoy during filming.

And this site offers tours around the places where filming occurred:
http://www.viator.com/tours/Belfast/Private-Tour-%E2%80%98Game-of-Thrones-and-Giants-Causeway-Tour-from-Belfast/d738-5844GOT
Their itinerary includes:
Stop in the town of Cushendun and walk to the caves where Melisandre of Asshai gave birth to her ‘shadow baby’ who went on to slay Renly Baratheon. Hear tales of the power struggles, battles and trysts between the noble families of Westeros, and learn gossip about the morally dubious King Joffrey Baratheon.
Travel by minivan to Ballycastle to see where Varys was born as a slave in the Free Cities, and after stretching your legs on a stroll, travel to the Dark Hedges road. With its natural archway of intertwined trees, the road is one of Northern Ireland’s most photographed locations and the place where Ayra Stark dressed as a boy to escape from King’s Landing. Pose for pictures, and then continue your journey north.
The next destination is Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge – an iconic crossing that connects the mainland to Carrick-a-Rede Island. While not used in Game of Thrones, the bridge is framed by magnificent headland that provided a backdrop for several scenes. After your guide points out the places that featured in key stories enjoy some free time to take a walk across the bridge.
Take a break for lunch (own expense) at Ballintoy Harbour (Lordsport Harbour in the series) and then travel to the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway to explore at leisure. While the location hasn’t been used in Game of Thrones, the site is the Causeway Coast’s showpiece, and it’s well worth visiting while in the area. Walk around admiring the hexagonal rock columns and gaze out at the crashing waves along the dramatic coastline.
Board your minivan and travel back to Belfast, making one last stop at Downhill Strand – a place that featured as Dragonstone during the burning of the Seven Idols of Westeros. Your tour then finishes in the early evening back at your Belfast hotel.
If no-one helps more, I'm sure you'd be able to find the places to visit from this itinerary.:)

They have filmed some stuff at Castleward, and although Carrick-a-rede itself hasn't been used the old quarry there which is used for overflow parking has been used as a location.Nice to save.0
