For me this is the only way to do xmas, I spent 150 in Boots 75% off and got the majority of xmas and birthday presents for this year.
I also do save a pound a day starting 25th November so have 365.00
to buy groceries, treats and start the shopping for the next year in the sales.Slimming World at target0 -
I buy all year round got a few bits in the boots 75% off all my cards and wrapping paper in the sales but I think my best buy was picking up lots of crimbo/birthday presents buying lots of the christmas stock asda was selling off for 20p each was so pleased0

I've done the bulk of my 2013 Christmas shopping in M&S and Debenhams Sales. Also bought lots of birthday presents for during the year too.0

Bought a couple of bits in the sales but there's some people who I want to buy something more 'special' for so prefer to wait and listen to things they mention nearer the time.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I don't think I have ever had a present I actually wanted.
Despite my obvious propensity to spend all my time with computers,
in the 1980s, NOBODY ever bought me a computer. I had to scrimp and save for years to buy a BBC Micro. And God knows how long to buy the floppy drive.0 -
Probably done at least 50% of Christmas 2013 shopping, all been put away in my gift cupboard0

After my divorce and having no contact with my family, I no longer need to buy Xmas, Birthday or Anniversary presents/cards.
I may be lonely but at least I keep what little money I have left!!!!0 -
I'm afraid after reading through some of the earlier posts, I'm absolutely shocked that there are people out there who feel that starting a year early to pay for their next Christmas is a priority in their lives. It really is a sad reflection of our times. My Wife and I don't have this problem anymore because we stopped buying Christmas presents for all and sundry years ago. We feel no shame or guilt and we definitely don't believe we are being selfish. The money that would have been spent on Christmas goes toward a fantastic holiday abroad every year for us! We still have a great time at Christmas, we just don't have to go through all the stress and hassle of buying stuff just because it's the accepted norm for most.
If you really want to be 'moneysavingexpert savvy', start putting money toward stuff that really matters, instead of just trying to please others often under the guise of the huge pressure of just fitting in with everyone else or pretending that you really like giving at Christmas time. Bah humbug!0 -
I see nothing wrong with buying gifts at half price or more which I was going to buy anyway!
And I certainly don't buy them for all and sundry just family and close friends.
Oh, and we're having four fantastic holidays this year, two of them abroad.
Saving on Christmas presents over the year helps us afford this!0
