I noticed this while doing my shopping in Morrisons the other day.. Jonagold apples are 49p/Kg compared to £1.29 - £1.69/Kg of all the other apples.. so I thought I'd try them... the kids love them and I think their ok to... then I wondered if they were just on offer... so looked at tesco online and they are 48p/Kg there ... so i know which apples I'll be buying from now on as my kids eat at least 2 each a day!!

They always seem to not have so substitute them!! (Which obviously isnt bad.. cos they price match so i get whatever they send at 48p a kilo too!

Can't find the thread but a big thankyou to the member who posted about the cheapness of jonagold apples in morrisons.
yesterday while in town my son was hungary ( 21 months old) and i wanted a snack for him. he loves apples. so popped into morrisons. anyway i saw the jonagold. 23p a lb. wow. was impressed. i got a huge apple for 8p. :T
i am a pink lady , lady. and they have to be ice cold from the fridge. but i must say i think i will eat jonagold now. they smelt so appley and fresh. and juciy and gorgeous.
i showed my mum today who went shopping and she was also very impressed. she had been buying cox( my daddys fav) but their £1.99 a lb. so she made a huge saving already.:j
just wanna thank the member for mentioning this and also to say to everyone else. just try them ur be surprised. i was. and at the price 9p to try an apple can't be bad.0 -
Tesco also sell them - 22p lb, though they're not always of the best quality.0

Hmm, bit sharp on the teeth if you ask me ... but I have been converted to them this week on the basis of the amount of money I am saving ...That's Numberwang!0

Hi jcr16,
I've added your thread onto the original jonagold thread so that others can see how much you enjoyed them.

Can anyone tell me what they compare to taste wise?
Ta!
I am a braeburn kinda gal, and dh is golden delicious (now there's a name that doesn't say what it is lol):hello:0 -
I can confirm that ASDA do them for 48p per kilo - 5 nice big ones for my lunches next week came to the princely sum of 52p!
I was initially suspicious when I first bought them two weeks ago, purely due to the price, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Crisp and very juicy, with a sort of subtle nutty taste.
Certainly nothing like the so-called "Golden Delicious" - a triumph of marketing if ever there was one. They ought to be "done" under the Trades Descriptions Act!The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.
