Default [CLOSED] Currys 10% Off Everything - Easter Sunday Only

Currys are offering 10% off all purchases this Easter Sunday Only. However there is a minimum spend of 199 (they did a similar deal on Christmas Day). This is the perfect opportunity to buy those electricals such as a new TV, PVR, Ipod, because the discount is in addition to the any sale prices already on the site.

To get to the discount code you have to visit via one of their "partner" sites that are advertising the offer. This is therefore a good opportunity to also get cashback: I found the offer on linemypocket. Details here http://www.linemypocket.co.uk/sitede...company=Currys (not a referral link)

To get straight to the offer and bypass the partner site you can also visit here:

Only problem is some of the best offers are on products less than 199 which means you have to buy more than one!

eg. Matsui DVD recorder, was 129, then 99 + now minus an extra 10%.
Its a good discount for computers and LCDs though.

To get the 10% discount you just have to enter a code at checkout. The code is easter immediately followed by the last two digits of this year (not allowed to put discount codes on here! eg. if this was a Mayday deal the code would be Mayday05 - get my drift?)

On top of that if you put in another code you can get free delivery saving 50 on a fridge freezer. FREE DEL 01 03 is not the code but if you removed the spaces who knows.....
BE NICE - IT'S FREE!

They have quite a nice looking Samsung 15" LCD TV which you can get today for 225 with free delivery.

Does anyone know if it's any good?

Sony's Flagship 32" Digital TV for 762 - Save 277

This is what I've just bought!

Currys are selling Sonys new 32" Digital TV for 847. This is already the cheapest I've found it anywhere on the web, with the extra 10% off it comes to 762 +P&P. Tesco are selling the same TV for 1039, a difference of 277.

To see the specs use the discount link above then type "Sony KD32DX200" into the search. To see the product at Tesco go here:
http://www.tesco.com/electrical/product.aspx?R=8130512

For picture quality you still cant beat CRT. This is Sonys top of the range model for the price of a midrange tv and it comes with a stand.

You can get the 17" version of the Samsung cheaper anyway from many retailers so not really a good price.

Is is better to have a dedicated LCD TV that doesn't function as a monitor?

I have noticed that the dedicated LCD TVs tend to be more expensive than those which also function as a monitor, which seems strange, and leads me to believe that the TV/monitors might be a case of a "jack of all trades, master of none" - or is this just me being cynical?!?

No there isnt an advantage. Infact most small size just LCD TV without pc input have poorer resolutions / response times / contrast ratios etc. Although the resolution wont make a large amount of difference if your only going to use it as a TV the other specifications will.

Both are fine tuned for video display, its just one can be used as a pc monitor too.

LCD monitors are a global market, whereas LCD televisions have to be tailored for individual continents/countries so are likely to be more expensive for that reason. A tuner is extra circuitry and hence expense, too, as is a remote control and teletext decoder.

A fundamental disadvantage with LCD displays is that they use progressive scan, so television signals have to be de-interlaced and the circuitry to do this is ropey (because doing it properly is expensive). The same problem occurs with plasma panels.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
