After 8 years in debt, I've finally done it! Well in a fashion.

I have £200 remaining on my 0% credit card, I've just been paid today and have £900 in savings!

HAPPY DAYS!

The £200 is on 0% for another 10 months so I'm just going to clear that at £20 a month and start some serious saving!

I've closed all but one of my credit cards and reduced my available credit from £13,000 to £1000.

I kind of wish I didn't have to save so I could have a year living with plenty of holidays but my next goal is a mortgage.

I have £1260 coming in every 4 weeks and plan on putting £900 of that in an ISA.

Keep plucking away people, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks people! And apologies for going on in a Debt Free Wannabe forum. I just needed to shout about it.

To everyone still seeking to become debt free, just keep at it and stay focused. That's rich coming from me because of the amount of times I've lost focus but you will get there.

The crazy thing is I'm now saving up to take on the biggest debt of my life.... A mortgage :(

Well done!! It's good to hear that being debt free does happen even if you lose focus occassionally.

My situation is the reverse of yours - the mortgage is paid off but the debt isn't ....... yet!!!
