  • My child takes melatonin, 5mgs capsule, broken open and poured on tongue.
If he's really stressed it's useless.
I think the longer a child is on it the less powerful it is.
Taken it for 3 years. No side effects so far.

Not my child, but my husband took melatonin for the first time on a long haul flight, and he was collapsed for half an hour on the floor of the aisle, and he needed oxygen. He thought he was having a heart attack and he was vomitting. I had to take him to see an industrial doctor as soon as he got off the flight (he was coming home from working away and his employers arranged for him to see the doctor) and they said it seemed he had a bad reaction to it.
  • I'm no kiddie, lol, am mid 20's, but take meltaonin, in my personal experience I don't see it as effective as it used to be, but is still a help to me. I still have bad sleeping problems but it helps me deal with the exhaustion of a restless night's sleep.

Does it help on an 'average' night?

jackie that must have been frightening, this is supposed to be a natural thing, it's surprising the strength of the reaction.

That's why he thought it would be safe. There was no lasting damage though, but he did say it was very frightening at the time.
