I would ring to check you can use the vouchers first. I went to one on Saturday at Highcliffe Castle (as adverised on the National Antiques website) ran by Grandmas attics, they had never heard of the scheme or vouchers. Fortunately I hadn't gone too far out of my way but I left really a little embarassed especially as I had dragged friends along on the promise of a cheap day out.

I emailed the website and they admitted whilst they had originally asked Grandma's attic, they never actually agreed to take part in the scheme. Hopefully they have now changed their website.
  • Theres a great antique and collectors fair in Belfast the second Saturday every month. It on the Lisburn road facing Tescos (get your Martins tips freebies there) and its free entry up to Christmas. You may have missed the November one,but I think the next one is the 11th of December. I got some great old bits cheap at the last one. Not worth travelling from England Scotland or Wales .But if in Belfast go!dont miss!

Hmm,thats a bit naughty,so the rule is,try to ring and check BEFORE you go.
  • Hi All.
I work as a self employed antiques dealer in south England.
The best free antique fair is at Kempton Park racetrack, called the Sunbury Antiques fair, it’s on the 2nd and last Tuesday of the month and starts at 6.30 am SHARP We start packing 11 to 12 after 5 or so hours trading so get there early (6.30 hint)

Entrance is free, its where prominent antique shops in London come to stock up every 2 weeks or so. Just don't act like Bargain Hunt. We do not give more than 20% discount and that’s based on Volume!

Otherwise check out the 2 "biggies" Swallows and IACF, like Sunbury just search on the name. The 2 big boys both tend to run special offers from their web sites dueing the winter months. And of course Sundbury is free entrance year round!

Just be warned Lincoln, Newark and Ardingly take at least a day on your first visit to see every thing.
Paying for first day entry gets you in with dealers. Know what you want, its size and your budget. (roughly 20% of dealers only stand the first day!)
All events mentioned are free Parking!
    NO ONE TAKES CREDIT CARDS!

    Thanks for the useful advice.

Are you expected to take anything you buy away with you there and then or do most places offer delivery and/or the ability to collect at a later date? (I'm thinking of big things like grandfather clocks, cabinets, wardrobes etc.)

If not credit cards then what is the usual payment method? Cash or cheque or BACS?
