free signs
Anyone who needs to make a sign for any reason I found this free site
http://www.online-sign.com
it uses flash and a pop up but you can make any sign you like for free and print it out.
It's also good fun to let kids make silly signs and stick them all over their room and the doors in the house.

thanks for all the replies, I'm just glad some other people got a use out of it. I've been reading these forums for a while now and this is the first I've been able to post something new. 
Off to print out two signs and swap the gents and ladies toilets in my office about for fun

Wow - excellent find
The sign maker opens in a popup window and requires both the Macromedia Flash and Adobe Reader plugins to run correctly.

It's a great idea, but it would be even better if they could make it work on Linux and Firefox.
I have a PDF reader and the Flash plugin.

how do you use it? so you save the pictograms and then paste into the pdf reader?

All you need to do is click one of the the signs that style you want and it should bring it up on a page layout and then you just type in the words you want on the sign
