helploan.co.uk possible fraud, assistance please.

Hope this is the correct place, if not please let me know.

I received a letter from a company called helploan.co.uk today requesting i make a payment to a bank account regarding a loan agreement.

I have made no such agreement. Over the last few weeks both my santander debit card and credit card have been compromised, which i had sorted. i also checked my credit reports last week which appeared clean.

Does anyone have an advice? i am currently reporting it through action fraud.

Thanks

  • Just write back stating you have no knowledge of any loan.
If they persist ask them to prove that they have lent you money.
  • I have also recently received a letter requesting payment, thankfully no cards compromised as yet.

Sounds very fishy to me as well. Can you advise how you go about reporting it through 'action fraud'. Is it just case of calling my local police station to talk to someone.

    Thanks
  • type "action fraud" into google ?????? blimey that was hard....

Helploan are part of MCO Capital.

Read through the posts regarding MCO for more info...

  • Anyone checking on MCO may well find that it is a dormant company with £100 share capital and a sole director being one Tuomo KK Maki who is a resident of Espoo, Finland. Tough to see how they can even pay for credit searches let alone lend cash to anyone!! Makes me question the comments about their perceived legitimacy as seen on some web sites.....
  • It appears on speaking to MCO Capital who are the company you are directed through to if you think that a loan has been taken out fraudulently in your name, that the only information required is your full name, address and date of birth to take out a loan it is not required to be paid into an account in your name, no checks are carried out and you receive an invoice for a hefty £215 charge for a £300 loan over 28 days that you didn't take out which is what happened in my instance. This appears to be a little to easy to carry out. I'm not prepared to try it but having been on the receiving end of the invoice I have reported it to the Fraud team.
