Tyretraders.com - Any Good?

Options
Hi All,

Pretty new to the site not sure if this is the right place to post so sorry in advance.

Have been looking at getting a new set of tyres as my mot is due next month and I think my current set is a bit on the limit. a friend of mine recommended Black Circles for a cheap and good service but i came across tyretraders.com and the site looks a little less professional to say the least but their prices seem a little cheaper too. Has anyone used them? are they safe?

I'm looking at these Kumho tyres:

tyretraders.com/tyreInformation.aspx?ItemID=KUM19550R1582VKU31

Any info would be a great help before I order them.

Thanks,

Travis

I put in an order for 2 Falken tyres on 6th May and got confirmation from Tyretraders.com that the tyre would get fitted by One Stop Autos in slough on 9th May.
Went to One stop Autos on 9th May and found the place closed for the day!! Tried getting onto the tyretrader.com website but it was down!!
The word scam was ringing through my head!!
Phoned One Stop Autos on 10th May, who stated that the tyres had not been delivered and that I would have to wait 1 month!!!!
Phoned up Tyretraders.com on 10th May to complain and they said they would get someone to investigate and ring me back very soon. Waited a couple of hours and phoned them again and they apologised for the inconvenience and assured me the tyres would get to One Stop Autos today.
Phoned onestop Autos again, who stated tyres had arrived. Went to get them fitted and they said the tyres had not arrived. I was furious and asked them to check again. They then suddenly found them!!
Had the tyres fitted and I noticed one of the directional tyres were fitted wrongly. They then took it off the wheel and put it on in the right way but to my amazement stated that it did not need rebalancing!!
Went for a test drive and had to go back to onestop Autos to get the tyre rebalanced. The old tyre fitter tried to get out of doing it but I was insistant on getting the tyre rebalanced.
The 2 tyres are still causing a vibration and I will now make a complaint to Tyretraders and get them to get another garage to balance them because I have no confidence in One Stop Autos as they do not know anything about directional tyres or balancing!!

We had to buy tyres today and used Etyres - found an old post on here for http://www.etyres.co.uk/asda1111 which gives a little bit off their prices. We used them previously and found them to be good.

i had bought 4 continental run flat tyres for my bmw 3 series about a year ago from tyre traders. including fitting i saved 100 quid! i had no problems with the order and everything went smooth.
other websites which have decent reviews are
    1 tyreshopper
    2 blackcircles
    2 pneus-online
    blackcircle price matches as well.

    hope this helps
    regards

FWIW I have consistently found in recent years that phoning round a couple of local independent tyre fitters they are nearly always cheaper than any online price I can find. There was one occasion they were a few quid out, but offered to match the price and fit same day! This is a like for like named brand / variant of tyre not just your "cheapest from the same factory that F1 car tyres are made in..." sort.

If you have a performance car, then many of the posters on car forums will be able to recommend good, and cheap tyre fitters in your area.

Most tyre places can order in tyres for same/next day fitting (depending on the time of day you phone).

By going on reputation you know you are going to get a good service, and can keep going back if there are any issues with the fitting (which hopefully there shouldn't be).
