Quick Decision Loans (QDL) - The Lies

Hello,

I am aware there are a few posts regarding this company and what they do and frankly it's nothing short of a scam. Whatever you do, avoid them at all costs even though it is saddening that most people, like I did, will drop their guard when speaking to them because they are referred by the well-known credit reference agency Experian (CreditExpert). Here are the lies and blatant mis-selling to watch out for:

- During the application, they ask for your debit card details and their reason is it's because they need to confirm your direct debit details. This is a blatant lie on their part. Direct debits do not need to be confirmed in this way and the only reason they ask for the card at the application stage is so they can debit £69.95 from you towards the end of the call.

- They will tell you you've been approved and offer their congratulations in a very excitable voice. Have none of it. You have not been approved and all they've done is just input your details on their system. They are a broker and nothing else. They will only start looking for loan providers once you've paid the fee.

- They will tell you that they need the £69.95 to process your loan. This is again a fallacy as no loan has even been approved at this stage. You can even confirm this when asking them for the APR of the loan. They will NOT be able to provide it because they are not even aware of it or who's providing it.

- They say they will send you an email within 24 hours to confirm the details. This almost certainly never happens. It did not in my case - however you will receive a letter in the post after a few days.

- The letter you receive will detail your loan details from whichever provider they have managed to get it from. This loan will invariably have the following characteristics:

a) It will be less than the amount you asked for (often less than half and usually not more than a few thousand pounds).
b) It will be on a very high APR in excess of 50%. My own came in at 54%.
c) They will ask you for a guarantor to cover the loan in case you miss your payments who will have to be a homeowner, making this far from being an unsecured loan.

When you do call them to cancel, it will often be a long protracted process and you will not get all your money back as they will retain £5 from the fee you paid. You will generally have to wait a long time in a queue and their refunds team only operate between 9 am to 5 pm even though their call centre and sales department are open for much longer than that.

This credit search would very likely be recorded in your credit file and they will also hold your debit card details on file. I chose to cancel said debit card because I do not trust this company at all.

Effectively they are nothing more than loan sharks dressed in white suits. The high APR and the stringent conditions attached make it unlikely that they will be of interest to anyone who may be attempting to consolidate existing loans or credit cards which would rarely have APRs above 30%, certainly not above 50%. They know this as well as you do, so my guess is they're only after the fiver they collect off each customer. I expect that this probably soon adds up.

In summary, be very wary of this company and I would recommend you avoid altogether. It's particularly shameful that Experian propose them as a viable option for those seeking to reduce their debts, thereby putting normally risk aware people off guard.

I hope this little article helps whoever elects to google them before applying. I didn't and I got stung badly for it.

It would be interesting to see what somebody with an excellent credit rating was offered, I bet the loan offered is the same regardless

I had a call from them this morning (I googled the number) - so basically, avoid avoid avoid!

Just rang them back and asked for my details to be removed from the db.
  • Brokerage fees
The Consumer Credit Act limits a credit broker's charges to £5 if, following an introduction to a lender, an agreement is not signed within six months. If more than that has already been paid, brokers must refund the excess on request.
This section of the Act ensures that brokers are only entitled to a nominal fee if they are unable to obtain credit or hire facilities at a price the consumer is prepared to pay.

Just got scammed by these guys. I applied for a loan yesterday, they phoned up and said that my form was incomplete. I was confused and asked them several times why they were calling me. The girl I was speaking to, 'Angel' said that she was working for that company as a broker to complete their application form. A complete lie as, as I know now, they are a completely different company. I have spoken to them and demanded a refund as I said they mis represented themselves. After a LONG time on hold, I was put through to a complaints manager, who said that he would have to listen to the tape to see if I was entitled to a full refund. I said no, I had looked on money saving expert and I knew they did refunds of at least 65.95. I told him I wanted that refunded now, and then they could listen to the tape and refund me the other £5 later. He then told me that the refund team had gone home, but they would call me tomorrow and refund me - he said his name was 'Dion' and his direct number is 01252 557644. I'll keep you updated on what happens - but I've included the law regarding brokers above. They use this loophole of the law to get £5 from us all, because we won't be signing an agreement as we have realised they are scammers, meaning that they get £5. I'm so annoyed as I really do want a loan and they deliberately misled me and all of you guys. Think about how much all our £5 add up to!

Great post SlyOne, this summary can be applied to a large number of "loan companies" these days.

That said, I will give it less than 24 hours before someone pops up asking for advice because they have paid a fee and not received their loan, etc, etc......
  • WELL... Hi there guys :D I'm sorry I have to "meet" you all under these circumstances. I got scammed by these fools too, but hopefully if there's any justice in the world They'll meet their downfall. Last wednesday I thought I was getting married having been approved of a 6k loan. On saturday when my "proposal forms" came through I discovered that my dream had been shattered once again!

I called back for my refund getting the whole "can't do it til monday" schpiel in a less than happy mood. Today (20 minutes ago infact) I managed to get through to the refunds department within 30 minutes. I was asked why I wanted a refund and gave them just 3 letters "OFT" followed by Brokers only being allowed to charge £5 for their services... PLUS being hoodwinked into spending £69.95 for a loan I was never going to get considering "Lyndsay" told me I had been approved my funds. The man was very nice even if a little shakey once I'd made my legal points and quickly agreed to send me my funds back within 10 working days. (Let's wait and see huh? hehe). Firm but fair seems to definately work (Including the fact we have 8 children so I gave him a little bit of a guilt trip too just for abit of self justice lol).

Either way these people don't realise just how heart-wrenching it can be to someone who needs a loan and can't get one. I really have no idea how they sleep in their fat-cat beds knowing their doing this! I contacted fair trading and give them their information today, They say they'll review it and see if their still competant enough to hold a creditors license, I dunno how far if anywhere that will go but heres hoping!

Good luck to anyone who has been hit by these cretins!
