Try lionbrand.com too, you have to register, but it has a load of free patterns especially very large sizes, and try berrocca.com

Try ravelry.com - This is a HUGE site full of free knitting and crochet patterns. It takes a few days to become a registered member but it is well worth the wait. You can also print out a free card to help keep track of your knitting pins and crochet hooks.

thanks everyone i havent knitted anything for a long time but am quite happy to sit in front of telly with knitting kneedles going in the winter so will give all the sites a really good look

Knitting yarn
Also- to go with the patterns try Abakhan's online site for very cheap deals on packs of yarn etc. You don't need to take 'pot luck' as some sites offer on their packs as you can choose from an excellent range of yarns and colours.
