My, just, 5 year old loves teenage turtles (my parents found a pack of hankies they forgot to give my brother 15-20 years ago and he loves them), knights & dragons, Indiana Jones, anything with wheels
  • Have a look at this site (Hawkins Bazaar) and see if there is anything suitable and perhaps you could pop into a local one (if you have one) to get some bits and pieces?Obviously no good ordering now though!

There is a bit on the site where you can select the age/sex of the child which may help and Argos have a similar facility on their website aswell which could be useful.

From my experience of friends sons etc ( I have a girl), it's mainly things like Ben 10, Spiderman, Batman, Power Rangers type things that seem to be most popular with that age group - or anything annoying and loud/messy always does the trick, but you might not be very popular with the parents lol!

    Hope you get something!

I have a 41/2 yo boy. He loves Star Wars/Clone Wars and Transformers.

One of his pressies from us is a big plastic bowl (for popcorn) with a few DVDs, microwave popcorn, sweets, cartons smoothie drink. Sort of young boys movie night hamper.

How about a bedtime theme - new pjs, book, something for the bath...

    My boy is 5

    He loves Dinosaurs.

Would second Hot wheels, all his friends love them.

In his Christmas Eve Hamper I have put 2 christmas DVD, snowman book with CD, make a nativity book, felt tips and crayons, a christmas mug, snowman soup, reindeer food (but a bit late if giving after xmas eve) and some of his favourite chocolate (he loves chocolate orange!)

He likes Top trump cards so you could get a little pack like these.

He's also really enjoyed this game

    Wall-e is a favourite too

Book always go down well in our house. He has asked for some Jolly Phonics books as they use them at school. Also wants a joke book.

Woolworths had a finger football game early in Dec for a couple of pounds. Or a blow football game (have seen these in home and bargains).

Hope this gives you some ideas

    Happy Christmas
Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
