Default Best Euro Exchange Rates - this weekend only

Needed to buy Euros for holiday, however purchased a Euro Cash Passport from Going Places. Managed to get them to match top local exchange rate of 1.22 but on this weekend's special offer you get an extra 25Euros credited free bumping the exchange rate up to 1.27. Only catch is minimum spend of £500 required to qualify, ATM withdrawals cost 2Euros, however if you withdraw your full amount in one transaction (max withdrawals are 700Euros), this means you are still benefiting from a 1.26 exchange rate - any little extra is better than nothing. Hope this helps anyone going on holiday soon.
Also got PO Credit Card with no loading on foreign transactions to pay for fuel and food.

Are you sure the withdrawal fee is €2.00
It says it is €3.75 on the site below..

Bear in mind they start charging a monthly fee after a year ( taken off any balance on your card). Then there is the fact that you can't get the last few Euros off your card because cash machines only carry certain note sizes.
Its these extra little clawbacks that make these cards a bad deal.

Depends where your going we came back from Lanzarote two weeks ago and over there the exchange rate was 1.28 in most places one place had it at 1.30 wher we change some of our cash no commission and 1 euro fee on £250 worth of sterling to euros.
maybe worth while finding out what the exchange rate is abroad where your going as over here its so poor.

Thanks mspig - unfortunately been tracking the exchange rate in France and could not get anything significantly higher.

Simes - on the Thomas Cook/Going Places card the withdrawal rate is definitely 2Euros, however other Travelex cards are 3.75 like you say. I agree you need to be careful at the amount you credit to ensure it is accessible through the ATM. We credited 635Euros, therefore 630 accessible, 2Euro charge, 3Euro balance. However, because we visit France quite frequently we will just top up for next time and use the 3Euro balance for the next cash withdrawal.

For me, it was worthwhile over a 1.22 rate.

in London I use the exchange opposite the pizza hut on Victoria St SW1, the regular queue outside tells you the rates are good.

The title is misleading. It is always worth shopping around, even when someone has a 'special offer' on. Check out the Travel Money Maximiser, or if you want to look direct, Travelex and Thomas Exchange Global tend to be among the best.
