For about a year, the EU Cookie Directive's forced UK websites to ask if you’re willing to accept cookies (files that track what you’ve done) on your computer.

The idea is to make websites more transparent, and to allow you to stop them tracking if you want to. But often, saying “no” means you sacrifice usability. Is it taking the biscuit?

    I don't think the EU directive has changed at all, it's the ICO's view on it that did change.

    I know it's a petty thing to moan about but it drives me mad, having to keep ticking boxes on every site.

    If computer users don't know that they are tracked by websites, and/or they don't care enough to educate themselves on how to avoid giving all of their details away, then they shouldn't be using a computer in the first place!

    I assume I'm being tracked by cookies on all sites, and it annoys me having to constantly click yes I know/ok....

    It's not hard to change cookie settings, why not automatically accept unless turned off like it has been since cookies have been about.

    The warning is a nuisance. Get rid of it.
    I just delete them regularly.

    And its not like you have a choice really, as websites often don't work without the cookies.

    What I find particularly annoying is the adverts that litter sites that relate to your recent browsing history. Causes difficulties if you share a computer with a partner and have just been shopping for their christmas present!
